COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wolfgang’s German Style is brewed in small batches using Hersbrucker hops, pure water, yeast and malted barley. It is distinctively full bodied; smooth and exceptionally tasteful to the pallet. Cold filtration ensures an all natural, great tasting beer.

UPDATED: MAY 18, 2010 341ml bottle from the Beer Store. I was hesitant, but eventually decided to give this one a try. Pours a slightly cloudy pale gold, with a large white head. There was dust on the box, and tiny floaties in the beer, so I was really getting worried. Aroma: So far, so good, smells decent actually, bready malts, just the way I like, a tad earthy, not much hops to speak of. Flavour: Decent enough, good malt backbone, very little hops. A tad sour, the hops are for sure gone. I wish I’d got a more fresh box, as this seems like it would be amazing fresh or on tap. It’s a shame the Beer Store here in Ontario really does not care at all about anything remotely craft-beer like. I’m giving this a fair rating because it’s enjoyable enough, and is just subject to poor handling and care. I also think the low rating is due to the fact that a lot of people are tired of lagers in the OCB market. Still good stuff though, maybe more akin to a Munich Helles, or a Dortmunder. Reminds me a bit of Gold Crown’s German-style all-malt lagers, which I am quite fond of.

Bottle. Pours clear straw gold with nice white head. Bready grainy straw light aromas with a light grassy near floral hop aroma. Light Medium body, light-medium bitterness and subtle hop flavours are still very present among the med-high carbonation, semi sweet finish rounding out to a bready, grainy like dryness.

341ml bottle. Poured into pilsner glass creating an adequate 1/2" head with staying power. Deeper gold (Lovibond 8) brew than most lagers or pilsners. Aroma is indistinct but pleasant. Tastes full and balanced without being standout in any area. Slakes a thirst. Great palate! Fizzy yet crisp. Easy drinking.

Dark golden beer with a thin white head. German hops with almost cheesy qualities. Good fresh malt with german crisp hops. Decent body. Sweetness as temperature raises. Not bad.

German Pils style. Or is it? Well, it’s just an okay beer. Better than anything by Molson, but then again, what isn’t. (341ml bottle)

This tastes a little like colt 45. A little less chemicaly though,,,, (is that a word) I guess I don’t understand/like German beers. Nice texture and nice color though. If this was your style of beer I could see how this would come off as more crafted smooth and natural tasting than other German beers.

Invitingly malty and fruity aroma with a pleasant edge. like fresh multi grain bread. Taste follows aroma, with nice finishing flourishes of sweet grain caramel and apple. Very carbonated and large bubbles make it spritzy and gassy, however this is much more smooth and well put-together than perhaps some may admit. The malt profile with a hind of grape is very authentic.

I have not tried this beer since 2004, but comes in the Ontario Craft Brewers 2010 Holiday pack. Pours a golden colour with a slight haze and not filtered to the max. Small white cap that does not stay long, but creates wavy lacing. Interesting grainy smell that is mild and comes out way more in the taste. Not your typical grain malt taste making this one, not your typical German lager (but interesting).

341ml brown bottle. Aroma of very light flowery hops. Dark gold, decent fuffy full head. Full bodied, starts a bit sweet then mellows a bit with earthy notes and a trace of orange. Quick dry finish.

Pours straw, small diminishing head. Aroma of grains with a hint of green apple. Easy drinking lager, better than mass market.
