Damage (77), London, Ontario, Canada Mar 9, 2006 German Pils style. Or is it? Well, it’s just an okay beer. Better than anything by Molson, but then again, what isn’t. (341ml bottle)
wilderthanyou (310), Guelph, Ontario, Canada May 19, 2008 You know, I wasn’t expecting much, and this beer delivered a little more then that. I pours a straw yellow with a white foamy head that has pretty decent retention. The aroma is weak, but I just spent the last 4 days breathing in campfire smoke in algonquin so that could be why. The flavour is lightly sweet, a very malty flavour, hops are pretty much non existant. But the beer in its entirety is rather refreshing and has high drinkability. JesseM (373), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Mar 22, 2008 341ml bottle from the Beer Store. I was hesitant, but eventually decided to give this one a try. Pours a slightly cloudy pale gold, with a large white head. There was dust on the box, and tiny floaties in the beer, so I was really getting worried. Aroma: So far, so good, smells decent actually, bready malts, just the way I like, a tad earthy, not much hops to speak of. Flavour: Decent enough, good malt backbone, very little hops. A tad sour, the hops are for sure gone. I wish I’d got a more fresh box, as this seems like it would be amazing fresh or on tap. It’s a shame the Beer Store here in Ontario really does not care at all about anything remotely craft-beer like. I’m giving this a fair rating because it’s enjoyable enough, and is just subject to poor handling and care. I also think the low rating is due to the fact that a lot of people are tired of lagers in the OCB market. Still good stuff though, maybe more akin to a Munich Helles, or a Dortmunder. Reminds me a bit of Gold Crown’s German-style all-malt lagers, which I am quite fond of. JaPe (69), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 14, 2008 This tastes a little like colt 45. A little less chemicaly though,,,, (is that a word) I guess I don’t understand/like German beers. Nice texture and nice color though. If this was your style of beer I could see how this would come off as more crafted smooth and natural tasting than other German beers. tomthompson89 (1129), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 29, 2007 slightly more alcohol then i would have expected giving it an add mettallic mouthfeel and finish golden color decent german hops some malt decent summer drinker mabel (1633), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 30, 2007 [441-20070726] Sample @ LCBO-Summerhill. Grassy wheat and pungent mould aroma. Clear, dark yellow body with a quick white head. Flavour is more grassy wheat. Medium body. Not attractive.
