Cask - The Duke of Wellington, Norwich. Copper in colour with a fine, soapy off-white head. An effort to get to the aromas, which aren’t a rave - caramel, nuts, fruit and some creaminess. Primarily sweet flavours: caramel, a touch of fruit and then a balancing bitter hop hint. Not a bad finish, a medium body and low carbonation.

Permanent cask at the Lamb & Flag, Oxford on 29th April 2009. Classic, rounded yet full-flavoured Cornish ale, on its best form with a creaminess of flavour mildly salient over a delicate balance of malt and hop. There were notes of clotted cream in the finish, over which I was waxing lyrical last night.
