Deceptively easy to drink at 5.3%abv - this Winter warmer has, like it’s little sister, a light hoppy aroma with underlying maltiness and full flavour with a smooth finish. Great companion for those long Winter nights!

Gravity cask at the Pembury Tavern. Rich copper pour with a few bubbles comprsing the head. Toffee, light maple syrup and bready malts make up the aroma. Flavor is fairly sweet with more toffee, rich bread, light citrus and earth bitterness, and hints of alcohol. Medium bodied with very fine carbonation. Finishes bready, malty, with mild warmth and drying, and just some subtle hints of earthy and floral hops. Nice beer overall.

Cask handpull at Pig’s Ear BF 09. Mid brown colour with lasting bubbly beige head. It’s a decent premium bitter/ESB, some sweetness from the alcohol and malts. Some fruit. Fine.

Cask, The Front, Falmouth. Golden-amber and no head. Has a fresh, juicy aroma. Juicy-spicy character, earthy and a bit spicy. Alcohol helps to dry out the finish.

Cask conditioned handpump The Pub Leicester. An amber coloured beer with a white head. A little grassy and malty in the nose with fruit, bread and malt in the mouth. Ordinary at best.

Cask (handpump) at Pigs Ear Beer Festival, 1 December 2009. Dark amber colour. Slightly sweaty aroma. Also very herbaceous. Sweet malt on the palate. Rather dull mouthfeel. Not much hop presence but nothing else very assertive either, leaving it feeling a little bland. Nothing particularly bad or unpleasant but didn’t really grab me. Not sure the condition was the best.

Cask at Pig’s Ear 09. This is very sweet and malty, needs a bigger injection of hops to give a bitter balance.

Cask @ The Front, Falmouth. Amber, with natural head. Malty and spicy and a bit resinous in the flavors. A little better than the standard Stogs.
