500ml bottle shared with friends, outdoor seating at The Cove in Covent Garden. Clear amber body with a small, white head. Mildly fruity to the nose. Citrus fruits in flavour on a pale malty foundation. Brief bitter finish. Rounded mouthfeel. Refreshing summer feeling (London, 03.08.2009).

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A crisp looking beer that keeps its head. You’ll be greeted by a powerful aroma of excitingly fruity hops. Citric yet rounded. It rolls into a less overwhelming flavour with hints of banana accompanied by delicious cereal and some hops. Its finish is strong a dusty. Long and nasal. A beer to savour.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500 mL bottle from the Moor and More bottle shop in Plymouth. Poured a clear gold color with a very thin white head. The aroma was grassy, with only a hint of pale malt. The flavor was solid, with a good malt base, and a grassy, bitter finish.

Hazy deep blond color with creamy head. It has a strong grassy aroma, green, enjoyable. Soft mouthfeel, some malt flavor (the flavor is quite weak indeed, not persistent), with a clear grassy hopping, light manure as well; medium to low bitterness. Not powerful, but well hopped. Very good.

1.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
UPDATED: SEP 4, 2008 The bottled version that just reached Australia does not seem to have enjoyed the journey. Pity, because it seemed like there was a pretty decent golden ale lurking under there. Intense gold with a loose, soapy head. Pretty true to draught appearance, I suspect. Unfortunately, the aroma is all wrong - rubbery with bizarre vomitous notes. Yeast infection? Conjures up images of kids puking on car mats. There are solid malts and faint peaches under there but I can’t get past the rubber factory. It’s a flaw I’ve never come across in a bottled beer to this extent. It tastes much better than it smells but that off-note still dominates. Characteristically under-carbonated British ale body. Quenching peachy fruitiness. Very sessionable in good condition, I’d reckon. (500ml bottle from Randwick Village Cellars. BB 11/7/09) PostScript: three days later I had another British bottled beer from a different brewer, different shop, and it had the same rubber aroma/flaw. May not be the brewers’ fault. Could be a transportation issue between UK and Australia. Beer may have been exposed to high temperatures?

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Cask at GBBF, London, 7 Aug 2008) Golden yellow colour with frothy, white head. Fruity nose with citrus, grapefruit and a clean malt profile. Fruity taste with notes of citrus, pineapple, clean and solid malt with balanced sweetness, leading to a finish with citrussy hops. Nice balance between hops and malt. Nice beer.
