Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Brownish amber. Buttery malt aroma. Medium bodied with restrained sweetness and soft, chewy mouthfeel. Buttery and a tad roasty, salty finish. A well balanced mildly flavourful quaffable bitter.

A Mes Rate: Cask at Baker Street ’Spoons. Metallic and malty. Heavily wheaty with slight fruit in the finish. Quite strong yeasty character all ’round. Uninspiring in every department.

Cask conditioned at The Lamb & Flag, Oxford. Amber coloured with light head. Thinly flavoured slightly watery bitter, though there is an alcoholic bitterness and dry maltiness.

The New Road Inn, Leicester. Nutty brown with a dense white head. Aromas are caramel, chocolate and some sournes, that is quite unpleasant. Flavours are very smooth chocolate with sour fruit - an interesing, odd mixture. Perhaps this was the end of the barrel - but the pub I got it from is Cask Marque acredited so that can’t be the case!

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Amber with a small white head. Sweet aroma and delightful sweet malty taste with a little dryness. I enjoyed this.

Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Pours out in a clear reddish amber colour with a large creamy white foam. Dryish notes of grass and nutshells in the aroma with buttery maltiness in the background. Medium-bodied with balanced flavours of fudge, red berries, almonds and grassy hops. Long medium bitter finish of raspberry jam, nuts, toffee, minerals, dried oranges, and wet grass. Highly drinkable and well-composed.
