Cask, Occasional;
Skinner’s Brewery is launching a new, special edition ale for the summer, named after a popular Cornish surfing break, featuring hops that have never before been used in the UK. Lushingtons will be available during May, June, July and August in pubs throughout Cornwall and Devon, as well as nationally through wholesalers and pub companies. It is a zingy, straw coloured, fruity pale ale with an ABV of 4.2% using only Cornish barley alongside three unusual hops sourced from the USA — including Belma, which is a new hop being used for the first time in the UK.

rauchbier (3808) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - SEP 3, 2016
Bottle, from Lidl. Gold, thin short lived white head and gentle condition. Initial sweet toffee and caramel in the nose with a gentle fruity hoppiness developing. A little too sweet in the mouth with toffee dominating a low fruit note. Finish is a little earthy but ultimately sweet and unbalanced.

Bottle from Tesco. Deep gold in colour, with a thin, white, head and moderate carbonation. LIght, malty, aroma with a touch of citrus hop. Flavour was sweetish, with ripe cereals, a touch of stone fruit and moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask at the Lamb, Chiswick. Dry-bitter, orange juice, spicy bitterness, refreshing, like a cross between a golden ale and a Franconian Kellerbier.

Cask, Orange Tree, Chelmsford. Hops sourced from the USA? Really? They didn’t use many. Incredibly bright on appearance. Golden lacing. Bog-standard golden ale stuff. Really incredibly grassy on aroma and taste. Off-flavour. Not a clean and well-made hoppy golden ale at all. Lacking of US hops. HELLO, HOPS??
