Bottle, 7.0%. Weak roasted aroma. Clear dark brown colour. Stable tan head. The flavour starts off roasted, turns spicy, some herbal notes. Also a little sweet, but balanced by the roasted notes. The alcohol is not very noticeable. Well-balanced.

Bottle. Sweet malt and raisins in aroma, Goldenred colour with beige head. Sweet malt flavour with ripe fruits and marzipan. This is very much Christmaslike.

Skovlyst Julebryg is one of the best christmasbeers I’ve tasted, even though I’m not normally very fond of christmas-beertypes. Anyway, maybe the reason why I loved this beer was the fact that it is not a typically christmasbeer: It was really fruity, tasted like a wealth of forestfruits, raspberry, wild strawberry, even blackcurrant, but all attempted hidden in the common watery taste of beer, which made it all kind of boring. I think the reason why Skovlyst does this, is because otherwise this beer would not be put forward as a christmasbeer.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange/amber with a creamy beige head. Nice lacing. Aroma is sweet and malty on a hoppy background. Some remote sour/vinegar notes deep down. A bit fruity. Sweet, malty and hoppy flavour. Grassy/apple notes in the finish. Slight metallic notes and notes of alcohol. Smooth palate at first, but develops a metallic feeling as it warms. 13-03-08.

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2009 Bottle. Ruby colour with small white head that quickly disappears. Nice aroma sweet malts, nuts and also some perfumed notesfrom the fresh pineneedles that´s added. Taste sweet and strong malty, well rounded and a good a little spicy finish. A nice christmas beer. In general I find Skovlyst severely underrated on Ratebeer. My second time tasting this beer. This time I found it a little too sweet and gave 5 for aroma and flavour and 11 on overall impression.

50 cL bottle, bottle 1724. Pours hazy reddish with a dense light brown head and lots of yeast floating around. Aroma is fruity, caramel malt and a whiff of pinewood needles. Flavour starts sweet and gives a nice caramel flavour with a mild set of spices on top. Small note of annis seed before the finish. Ends mild spiced and lingering sweet with a subdued bitterness. Nice. And a nice surprise, I got hold of their first batch on growler back in 2005 - that was bad - burned plastic and everything.

A part of our christmas-brew blindtest. It pours a golden-brown colour, and a medium dense head with a relatively good durability. Aroma is a mix of fresh fruits. Taste is like an orchid, with oranges, apples, pines, citrus and finishes with a fruity bitterness from the hops. Palate is standard thickness. Winner of our christmas-brew blindtest. I am a little bit confused if this beer really is that christmassy, but is sure is good. Maybe it will do better as a spring-beer?
