3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I could make two ratings on this one. This really is not much of a sweet/oatmeal stout, but if rated as an imperial or possibly foreign stout it fares better.
Pitch black brew with heavy brown head. Black pepper and (lots) of liquorice in both aroma and flavour. Very full bodied with just a hint of banana - quite one dimensional, but rather interesting.
The brewer said, that it should be seen as an imperial, so that’s what I’ll rate it as.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Draught at the brewpub. Black colour with a medium baige head. Roasted malt, licuris aroma and a very sweet licuris medicin taste. Medium body and a sweet sweet licuris finish. To much licuris!!!

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
(On tap) Completely pitch black and opaque with a handsome, dense, light brown nitrogen head. Rather odd medicinal, licorice aroma. Licorice root is added. Very burned flavour and again licorice, a LOT of licorice. Dry bitter finish. Do you really add licorice to an oatmeal stout? Well, points for trying out new ways. 120705

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draught. Black in colour with a fast disappering white head. Liquorice aroma. The taste of liquorice is to dominant, thus difficult to distinguish other flavour. But a big mouthful and a thin aftertaste for a stout.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Solid black with an inch thick beige head. It smells like sal-ammoniac and tastes like it as well. This is liquid candy for adults. I like it.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
An opaque black beer with nice creamy brown head. The aroma has notes of licorice, and malt, as well as hints of licorice. The flavor is slightly medicinal combined with light notes of chocolate and quite a lot of licorice, leading to a dry roasted end. It has a hint of diacethyl in the background. I don’t like the concept of licorice in my stout.
