coldbrewky (503), Saugerties, New York, USA May 16, 2007 Tap with dinner at the brewpub. A pilsener by stretch. A bit thin in body but grassy nose and gentle hops prevail to make the crabcake spinach salad a very pleasant experience. Glouglouburp (2006), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 20, 2006 (tap at brewpub) Clear yellow body, medium white head with very good lacing. Smells of those crisp pilsner hops (saaz?) and some wet fur. Body was lacked substance with some dry hay and a crisp but timid bitterness. All in all that’s a light Pilsner that is a bit too mellow to amount to anything. We’ve all had that beer 100 times before under different names, same old story, so old in fact that it should be called Wrinkled Lager. MartinT (4377), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 7, 2006 Any first impressions?
-A veil of foam stands atop the pale yellow.
-A feeble aroma conjures up dry hay malts and subtle citrusy hops.
-Crisp hay is bothered by watery passages.
-The body is lean, and maybe on the thin side of things, and the prickly carbonation doesn’t help you to forget that there is a lack of substance.
What if you dig deeper?
-A wooden hop bitterness satisfies, although a little more flavor from those same hops would have been welcomed.
-They call this a Czech pils, but something is missing to make it Czech; improper yeast perhaps?
-Nonetheless, this is still a decent quaff, but it tastes generic for a bolder version of their Skylight.
On tap at the brewpub. tiggmtl (4179), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 24, 2005 Sweet, grainy aroma with herbal, floral hops in abundance. Clear pale golden body with low white head that recedes to ring. Grainy malts with some floral hop flavour and fair finishing bitterness. Medium-light body with decent carbonation. Sampled on tap at the brewpub with Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere. Texture aqueuse, carbonatation trop faible.
