Pours a dark brownish. Aroma of yeast and dark fruit. Flavor has yeast, spice, fruit, and perhaps a touch of roast. Pretty big carb. Ok.

A lot less flavor than expected. Tastes wheaty. No aftertaste. Buzzed after a couple swigs. $13 for a 25.4-ounce bottle at Beverages & More!. Tastes expensive, just not good. Definitely not worth $13. It would be an okay beer for about $3 for the same bottle. Utterly forgettable, especially for the price. Rolled the dice, came up craps. Thanks for playing.

Bottle from a Bevmo 5 pack of Belgian Christmas beers. Poured a darkish brown with a large, creamy off white head. Aroma of yeast, ark fruit and chocolate; some caramel and toasted malt. Flavor had all those same components. A good amount of complexity. Darker, roasted elements were definitely present. Also chocolate and dark fruit. Some bitterness in the finish. Medium body. Some sweetness. Good beer.

Pours a dark brownish copper color w/ a full, semi creamy froth. Superb head retention slowly reducing leaving sticky snail tracks the way down. A thick downy comforter is left to linger the whole drink long. Nice! Aromas of Belgian darkfruits. Full nectar w/ ample residual effers that create an expansive cotton ball texture upon my palate. A big spicey character emerges swiftly stealing my attention away like a needy child. As I regain focus I realize I am in the midst of a fantastic brew of classic proportions. Complex and very refined. Ths brew is not sweet at all. Theres a very mild roast component that reveals a little coffee bean and cocoa. Flavors of plumb, cherry skins, peach, grapes, melon, pine bark, and cakebread. An underlying tartness factors is adding to the generous character this brew affords. The finish is bittered perfectly leaving a slight kiwifruit acidic twitch to ponder. Highly recommended.

Lots of flavors in this dark brown, Belgian with nice long lasting big brown head seasonal brew. Cherry, chocolate, straw, spices, bitter fruit rind...funky and fun. Not the smoothest but intriguing!

THOUGHTS: Nice beer, but not verty Christmasy. Sort of like a dubbel at first, but then the flavor got more complex as it warmed. It got a little more Christmasy as it warmed. Hid alcohol fairly well. Nice beer, but rather pricey at $12 a bottle. But if I can find it again next year, this might become an annual Christmas beverage for me. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark brownish red with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished and left good lacing at first and then virtually none. The aroma was light caramel malt, grape, cherry alcohol, dark fruit and some spices. The aroma was nice but a little weak until it was quite warm. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and lightly acidic, while the finish was moderately to heavily sweet, moderately bitter and slightly sour with an average duration. The flavor was of dark fruit, cherry, grapes, slight hops in the finish with maybe just a hint of chocolate. The light to medium body was a little dry and a little syrupy with very fizzy carbonation and a lightly astringent finish.

Bottle: Dark brown, nearly black, murky, large pillowy light beige head, sticky lacing, lively carbonation.   Soft dark pitted fruit, some bready malts, slightly barnish.   As it warms I get a bit of soil or bark.   Pale malts on the tongue, not hefty, hints of dark pitted fruit.   A little shallow towards the back.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   The aroma and beginning of this beer made me think it would be much bigger, but in actually its dies rather quickly.   Lingering soily malts.   Decent, but not as special as I thought have thought given that it is a special release.

330 ml bottle from BevMo LaJolla as part of belgian style holiday gift pack. Pours dark brown and hazy with a large beige head that leaves thick lacing. Roasty and herby aroma, espresso, sweet basil, grass, molasses and bitter chocolate, with a little dust, bready yeast and clover. Sweetish, quite roasty, flavor, bitter chocolate, caramel, day old coffee, lots of bitter herbs, molasses, brown bread, floral hops and ash. Medium body, a bit dry with tingly carbonation.

Nothing so special I will remember. A sad thing to say in a world of so many fine beers. From a Christmas variety pack from Shelton Brothres purchased at Beeryard in Wayne, PA. Notes of cherry and chocolate and coffee. Nice belgian lace. Happy New Year to one and all
