Small bottle from Liquor Barn in North Burnaby. Modest beige head over a very dark, slightly translucent liquid. Fruity on the nose. On the palate it offers impressions of dried fruits and brown sugar. No hop detected here. A very worthy Christmas ale!

Brown. Light brown head. Fermented grape and alcohol nose. Sour, some sweetness. Malt and wineous flavour. I suspect this one’s started to go bad.

Bought this for the bottle alone... the pic is now outdated, there is a medal whose ribbon hangs from the "S" and "E" on the bottom right. Cloudy brown, tan head. Nose is dubbel-style... caramel pepper coriander brown sugar. Flavour is quite sweet with wood dark fruit yeast spiciness... slight alcohol on the finish. Smooth and sweet. Slight cherry cough syrup.

Bottle. Pours murky dark brown with huge offwhite head. Aroma is lots of fruity yeast, grapefruit, caramel, hay dust, sour dough and faint hints of mint licorice or cough drops. Taste is initial medium sour then light sweet and medium bitter. Body is oily with soft carbonation. Finish is a bit short and light sour with notes of white wine, orange juice and very faint hints of bitter almonds. A bit disappointing and not very Christmas-like.

(bottle, 33cl) Dark brown colour with a beige and big foamy head. Spicy dark malty aroma with notes of anise, caramel, as well as a delicately touch of fruit confit and chocolate. Sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Dark and mildly toasted malty taste with caramel, present spicy notes, subtle fruits and a touch of chocolate; moderately sweet toasty and balanced spicy finish with hints of chocolate in the aftertaste. Rounded brew. 23.XI.13

Nose is spice, pepper a little mint, cloves, bread yeast; nice. Taste, is malt and dark fruits leading to cloves, spice, bread and pepper, and a little toffee in the too short finish; pleasant . Mouthfeel is a little thin as well.
