MaxxDaddy (207), New York, New York, USA Apr 9, 2008 Bottle shared by goldtwins. Pours a hazy light brown with light off-white head. Aroma is odd to say the least, with vegetables figuring way too prominently; cabbage comes to mind first. Upon tasting, the vegetables disappear and transform into overly sweet malts and some booziness. Average mouthfeel with a sweet, alcoholic finish. Not a fan of this one.
nuplastikk (375), Maryland, USA Jun 20, 2008 11.2oz bottle. Deep chestnut brown color with a large, frothy head. Lots of spice intermixed with chocolate and candi sugar. I’m a big fan of Belgian Christmas ales, but I find this beer to be just a little off. The cocoa flavors really carry the beer, but the aroma is a little skunky and it also comes through in the taste. Would like to try one fresh in Belgium. Tastes a little like it’s been sitting in the Kulminator for the better part of a decade. jerc (3050), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 19, 2008 2008-06-20. Labeled as Kerstmutske. Brown body with a small creamy tan head. Strange aroma, odd spice, yeast, leafy note with a touch of earthy/rooty not quite licorice notes. (6+) Odd flavour, muddled spice, sweet malt base. (6+) Smooth average plus palate. (3+) Not unpleasant but a bit odd, not sure I’d want another. Bottle from Premier Gourmet, Buffalo
ChainGangGuy (1444), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jun 5, 2008 Appearance: Pours a dark, garnet-hued body with a small, wispy, off-white head.
Smell: Aroma of ripe dark fruit, caramel malts, a bit of grain, plenty of alcohol, and some cinnamon spice.
Taste: Caramel malts, some cinnamon, some spice. A touch grainy. Blender pureed fruit. Not much sweetness present. Boozey, yeasty finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: No thanks. Didn’t really care for this one. Shag (1749), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA May 31, 2008 This poured an amber color with a beige head. The aroma contains some cooked veggies, chocolate, and toffee. The flavor has a nutty presence with some coffee, dark chocolate, and spices. Overall a pretty nice beer. kp (6000), Woodstock, Georgia, USA May 25, 2008 Updated: Jul 4, 2008Name: Kerstmutske Christmas Nightcap
