fiulijn (5695), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Mar 18, 2008 It pours a cloudy light amber color, with a giant and persistant head, supported by a fine perlage. It’s a well executed Strong Belgian Ale, with a spicy touch; the aroma is mellower than a Triple, and the body more full. It has a strong bitterness, the final is a bit dry. Good.
KimJohansen (2460), Copenhagen V, Denmark Jul 20, 2008 Clear amber with large white head. Sweet and mild hoppy aroma with yeasty notes. Yeasty flavor with ripe fruits. Lubiere (3146), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jul 14, 2008 Hazy golden ale with a thick unctuous off white head light floaties in bottle. Aroma is lightly reminiscent of Orval, with the light Brett nose, herbaceous, light caramel, very dry. In mouth, a crisp malt with gummy residual sugar, extended coriander taste in mouth, good hops, medium bodied. A very decent tripel. Bieropholie imports, BB 28-03-10. Lowe1983 (730), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Jul 14, 2008 Pours a hazy amber color with an off-whte head. Aroma is of dark fruits, yeast, caramel, and some spices. Flavor is sweet with dark fruits and caramel right away. Finishes with spices and a little warming. bager (1900), Copenhagen N, Denmark Jul 10, 2008 Bottled. Hazy and golden orange in colour with a large off-white head. Bit malty with notes of yeast, fruit, spices and caramel. JCB (889), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jul 8, 2008 11.2oz bottle from a beer club. An overlooked entry in De Proef’s lineup. This one pours hazy gold-to-orange with some nice dry spices in the nose along with sweet fruits. Full body, decent carbonation, but I found this to have too many clashing flavors (booze, spice, malts) that could have been integrated to make this more than what it is - which is a solid but uninspiring tripel.
