clingman71 (172), Centerville, Ohio, USA Aug 29, 2008 Draft @ Monk’s, Philly. Pale cloudy golden color. Spice and fruit on the nose, a little yeasty. Flavor is a little hoppy along with the fruit(apricot?) and spice. A little more dry and not quite as malty as some Tripels. Pretty full-bodied without having an overly heavy mouthfeel. I had never heard of this before my trip to Monk’s, but am glad that I tried it. Very good. asheft (816), Marburg, Germany Aug 16, 2008 [bottle]
Delicious, yeasty, bready, grapey, base malty, pumpernickely aroma with maybe a touch of vinegar. Cloudy brownish orange with some yeasty clots and a lacy white sheet on top. Sweetish base malt flavour with some brown sugar up front, developing into grain and pumpernickel. Not so estery like some tripels, but excellent balance--sort of like a belgian barleywine. Sort of floral hops with some sugar, but not too much. Medium body, moderate carbonation, smooth with an almost dry finish. Nnudd (23), , Denmark Aug 10, 2008 Hazy gold/bronze topped with a cap of white foam. Aroma of lightly yeast, some light fruits (pears, apricots), sugar, subtle herbal notes, sweet, bread like malt. Same flavors with some past ripe fruit. Dry finish and a yeasty pear aftertaste. Full body, balanced creaminess and nice carbonation.
