kiefdog (476), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 22, 2008 75cl bottle from Beer World (Largo, FL). Rated on 5/23/08. Pours a cloudy dark golden caramel color with thick frothy white head. Reasonable head retention. Aroma is honey, caramel, spice, grass, bread. Aroma is very pleasant on this ale. Medium-bodied beer with somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Flavor notes include maple syrup, caramel, toffee, and honey. Alcohol content in well-hidden and there is a slight bitterness on finish. Nicely done tripel style ale, but we paid about $4-5 more for this than similarly sized bottles of Tripel Karmeliet, Houblon IPA Tripel and the Allagash Tripel Reserve, all of which receive better ratings.
Eructoblaster (1266), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Oct 5, 2008 Bottle - 330ml. Hazy amber body with average carbonation and a decent off-white foamy head. Good malty/hoppy aroma with some fruity hints. Alcohol is well hidden. Taste is well balanced and carries plummy notes. Ends with a warming bittersweet finish. Enjoyable. thenick (583), North Bellmore, New York, USA Sep 29, 2008 Sample @ BBF ’08, Boston. Pours a hazy golden orange with a fluffy white head. Aroma is fruit (banana stands out), spice, and a bit of yeast. Flavor is fruity up front, dissolving into a wonderful spicy note and a slightly yeasty/acidic finish. It was slightly offbeat for a tripel, but it was nice. Fukito (595), Buenos Aires, Argentina Sep 21, 2008 Bottle, september 08. Slightly hazy orange color with some golden hues and a big, bubbly white head. Creamy, lasting, lace leaving head. Flavor is fruity, with a spicy touch and some acidity with some earthy hops at the end. Medium to light mouthfeel, crisp but a bit watery, dry finish. Really drinkable, alcohol well hidden. Aroma is a bit of fruit, some spiciness, a sea-side like note also. Nice, refreshing, easy drinking tripel that could do with a bit more body. goozen (763), Leiden, Netherlands Sep 6, 2008 Bottle 0,33ltr: Hazy orange coloued brew with an fine fruity taste with an bittersweet finish. clingman71 (172), Centerville, Ohio, USA Aug 29, 2008 Draft @ Monk’s, Philly. Pale cloudy golden color. Spice and fruit on the nose, a little yeasty. Flavor is a little hoppy along with the fruit(apricot?) and spice. A little more dry and not quite as malty as some Tripels. Pretty full-bodied without having an overly heavy mouthfeel. I had never heard of this before my trip to Monk’s, but am glad that I tried it. Very good.
