Orange brown body with thick creamy off-white head. Lots of caramel and fruit and very sweet in the aroma! The taste lets it down a bit. Slightly vinious. The caramel continues, but appear more like toffee now. Still good. Some red berries in the aftertaste

Bottle. Orange-copper with a huge frothy/soapy, off-white head. The aroma has hoppy oranges among sweet caramel malt, toffee, and cookies. Flavour has toasty dark malts, chocolate, and overall a nice diversity of flavours. Surprised by this one...nice..

At ZBF under the Bruin moniker. Brown bodied. Small tan head. Sweet malts, fruit, hints of caramel, and light spice in the nose. Taste is cocoa, sweet malt, touch of caramel, spice notes, and dark fruit flavors. Bit of fullness to the body. Medium carbonation. Finishes with more sweet maltiness, caramel, cherry/raisin notes, and spice.

UPDATED: MAR 19, 2009 Bottle as Slaapmutske Bruin, 6%. Weak sweet aroma with notes of fresh berries. Clear, dark brown colour, getting cloudy towards the bottom. Big, quite stable head. Flavour is slightly watery with vinous overtones. Low to medium bitterness. Thin mouthfeel and high carbonation. OK balanced, I guess, but a bit too subtle for me. 5 3 6 3 15

Bottle at Dulle Griet, Gent, as Slaapmutske Donker. Muddy orange colour. Stable, creamy light brown head. Nice, sweet and fruity flavour. Hint of dried fruits. 7 3 7 3 16

Draught at ZBF09 as Slaapmutske Bruin. Weak spicy aroma. Quite cloudy brown colour. Small tan head. The flavour is mildly spicy with a little yeast. Does not seem roasted or fruity. A little boring. 6 3 6 3 12

(Bottled) Hazy dark red color with a medium, beige, foamy and tight head with nice lacing. A pleasantly fruity and caramely-malty aroma with cherry and fruitcake. The flavor is neutral, straightforward-malty with dried fruit and rye and cherry hints. Medium to full-bodied palate with balanced carbonation. A tasty, very clean and pleasant winter brew with a pleasantly manageable ABV. A really positive surprise, and highly recommended as a wintertime session beer.
