Bottle, 33cl. An unclear, orange-brown beer with some floaties and a dense, beige head. Spiced, sugary nose with roasted malt, and a sweet, sugary and spiced flavor. Rather dry, full-bodied mouthfeel. Caramel, roasted malt and sugary sweetness in the finish. I’m not exactly sure why, but it disappointed me a bit, even though it’s a fine beer. (080215)

Bottle at the Manchester Winter Ales Festival. I like this as I have everything else I’ve had by them. Cloudy brown, slightly spicy, too drunk too rate this properly. Just the numbers.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2008 Clear brown pour capped with beige. Sweet spicy Belgian nose with a distinct waft of......what? Coriander? Cardamom? Anise?Ginger?Certainly juniper. Or just a really aromatic house yeast? Nah, half the spicerack’s been tipped in this, and I like it. Makes me feel nostalgic about first discovering Belgian beer- elusively but unmistakeably spicy. Mouth reveals more juniper, yeast, apple peel, caramel, soil, soap and spice. Not the MOR Bruin I was expecting at all, but something far more enigmatic. Better-than-average, fragrantly spicy Belgian sessions. Really enjoyed it.
