Fukito (591), Buenos Aires, Argentina Jun 22, 2008 Bottle, april 08. Turbid brown/ dark copper color with a medium, bubbly, slightly creamy beige head. Some raisins on the aroma, a slight touch of ripe bananas. Spicy/ toffee flavor with some slight vanilla reminiscenses. Slight alcohol burn. Medium to light palate, fizzy carbonatation hides a rather dry finnish. Coating sensation. Spicy but rather short aftertaste. Ok, rather plain light dubbel.

Smell of caramel, with musty notes, and dark fruits, like stewed prunes, light yeasty notes. In mouth, a clean crisp nutty roasted nuts malts, burned caramel, with light herbal notes, some light licorice. Considering its lower alcohol content, this one is rich and generous. Bieropholie imports, BB 28/02/10. imdownthepub (3995), Banbury, Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England Jul 13, 2008 Bottle, 330 ml at t’Velootje, Ghent. Brown to amber with white head. Lots of christmas pudding fruits, raisin, prunes and caramel all in a yeasty, bready body. Malt loaf fruitiness, rich and perhaps a little overpowering. HogTownHarry (3174), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Jun 28, 2008 Bottle (330ml). Via trade with glouglouburp - thanks again, Dany!. Slightly hazy deep amber pour with an average very lively fizzy beige head. Smells like so many decent Belgian brune ales - spicy, yeasty, roast caramel malt - this one, perhaps owing to the WinterBier name, seems a bit more Christmas pudding-like, sans the candied fruit. The taste follows, plenty of low-level dry peppery yeast, fruity, malty, hints of raisin and blush wine - reminds me of a lighter Chimay Blue. Average body, a little dry and vinous on the palate, medium length finish where the dry yeast comes out a bit --- solid drinker, nothing super special.
