Bottle to pint glass Aroma of cider, lemon, straw and hops. Appearance is a pale yellow with a thin white head and nice lacing. The taste is sweet in the beginning with lingering back of the tongue bitterness. It has a light body with a slightly creamy thin texture and some late astringency.

Bottle. Pours a light gold/straw with a nice slice of white head. Nose is light citrus hops. In the mouth, theres a bit of fizz, then a mild tingling of lemon/citrus hoppiness. It then settles into a nice malty sweetbitter on the tongue and mellows itself out. Standard bitter affair, but I can’t really say anything bad about it.

Infamous Parliamentary ale which is weak in character, but crisp with a decent nose.

Bottle from Asda, Tamworth. Blonde ale with a little head and short duration. Aroma is hoppy and with a little citrus but also slight skunk, like a pale lager. Mouthfeel fizzy and watery. Bitter but no variety of flavour - just common-all-garden bitterness. Far from great.

[500ml bottle, EBBC 2012] The now infamous Top Totty – after the controversy at the Houses of Parliament it constitutes 50% of their entire output. It’s an average golden ale though, citrusy and a little grassy. Rising bitterness. Some straw. They did well from the publicity, so you can’t be too churlish – there’s nothing really wrong with it, other than the label. I asked my partner if she was offended by it – "No, it’s just crap" [19052012]

Bottle at #EBBC12 clean nose, sweet malt, slight bitterness in finish. Very quaffable. Quite clsoe to lager in carbonation and taste.

Bottle, gold with relatively high carbonation, grassy hops on the nose, crisp and wheaty, a little peppery hop, dry, light, crisp. Like a lager/ale cross.

Cask@The Wenlock Arms, London. Yellowish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity and floral with some mild dough and zesty notes. Flavour is fruity, floral, honeyish with some bready and earthy notes as well.

This is the beer that got removed from the UK House of Commons bar because of its name and bunny girl pump clip: the PC womens lib lot complained and it was taken off (cask). I have drank it at the old brewery tap before they moved to larger premises a few years ago, well before RateBeer was on the scene: this review however is from a 500ml bottle. Best before the end of March 2012, it was poured into my Abbot Ale glass tankard on 6th March 2012. This is a true blonde, lager light in its golden looks, on top a smooth foaming white head. The aroma is citrusy with floral hop overtones. The taste has a tangy, citrus hop front that leads towards a dry, bitter finish: strangely the rear label claims the beer is bitter then citrusy, maybe my taste buds are the exact opposite of their head brewer/taster? Definately very little malt content to be found, wheat is also used in the brew, hence the light colour, plus of course those Halcyon Pale Malts: no sign of them in the taste even if they do decide the colour. Refreshing and hoppy, this is a summer beer in my eyes, an outside in the sun sort of brew.
