Powertrip (71), Calgary, Alberta, Canada May 19, 2008 Nose has faint traces of pecans, brown sugar, couscous and a light malt. Nothing seems to dominate here, strange. Quite a foamy pour. Dusty blonde, like it has a faint brown coating. Starts like a bitter lager and doesn’t start to develop till past mid-palate. Blonde-like hops, brown rice, and that light malt again. Something else unique here - a mouth coating that has the slightest brown sugar taste. Absolutely delicious effect! Finish is abrubtly bitter but quickly fades.
shintriad (697), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 15, 2008 On tap. Wow, couldn’t they have drummed up something a little more interesting for their 20th anniversary? The answer is, "of course not." Flat, grainy, low-alcohol yet kind of boozy, and that famous washed-out "blah" taste I’ve come to know from Sleeporo. My server was kind enough to pour me a sample before I picked something else, so that was a pretty sweet deal... DerWeg (443), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 9, 2008 Draught at Rectory Cafe, Wards Island. Surprisingly not bad. Pint is rusty amber with fake soapy head, Good fine carbonation. Aroma yeasty and prickly, hints fruit. Taste fruity esters, cherry, hints of lemon. Hops are strange making the hop finish indistinct. Has some of that yesty-fizzy-chemically Sleeman genericness. This makes the palate a bit soapy and drying further into the pint. But do try it. Strangebrewer (41), Chatham, Ontario, Canada Sep 5, 2008 A hint of skunk at first pour. Amber colour, thin head. A bit grainy lasting aftertaste. Similar to other Sleeman beers. CapFlu (3340), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Sep 1, 2008 (Bottle) Pours an orange amber body with a quick dissipating white head. Nose of cereal. Pretty poor by comparison to other Sleeman one off’s like the John Sleeman’s Present series. Mild hops and malt mingle for a purely average beer. Sleeper-cell beer? Geth_in_beer (677), Nova Scotia, Canada Aug 17, 2008 Sampler. Golden colour. Thin to no head. almost similar to a lager but a bit sweeter. Slight hint of malt. Not so good.
