2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 VincentL (121) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 5, 2012
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Narnad (1136) - Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA - JUN 9, 2010
Pours an amber color with a small dense off-white head, very clean and a huge amount of carbonation. Light citrus hops, strong floral, modest caramel, mild toasted malt late and some light metallic hints late. Toasted malt, smooth caramel early, smooth floral and sweet fruity apple, grape and orange middle, mild grainy and light metallic ending round out the flavors. Body is actually a decent density with a light dryness at the end and a slight fizzy feeling from the large amount of carbonation. Overall not a bad brew if you had it available around you. Sleeman has switched to clear bottles from the old classic brown bottles so I could see some variation of flavors floating around. Solid sweetness from the malt and hope really make this a pretty decent brew to drink.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Vertical Bacon Strips (1617) - Asshat, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 23, 2009
Poured out a nice clear mid-range brown with an off white bubbly crown and consistently left minimal ropy lacing. The aroma was weak but for a widely available beer its just different enough to appeal to someone venturing out from the mass produced sort. Slight caramel, light caramel and roasted malts with grains. The taste is weak caramel that is blended near equal to the hops. Some sweetness. It doesn’t come across all that smooth with a sort of fluffy carbonation feel and it was more bitter than I had expected from a Sleemans product (cool). Gets ’er done but is nowhere near the flavour factories on the west coast US pumping out ambers that water the mouth.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 checkmatei1 (764) - Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 16, 2009
Bottle: Poured an amber color, not much head. The aroma was non existent. Smelled like a beer. The flavor wasn’t much better, no character or body or taste. Overall, weak.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 pootzboy (1284) - Hawgville, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 20, 2008
Bottle:
Amber color, weal heading, weal lace, no off tastes. Weak mouth feel, some fruits and stale malt presence over attenuated hopping, fast finish... clean and fizzy. A dollar beer tarted up in a premium package...but not premium taste.
