2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 BillKismet (2653) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 14, 2006
A "step" beer bridging macro to craft. Light, honey brown amber color w. a fine, persistent head. Simple palate, but drinkable w. moderate, dank caramel malt taste. Heavy honey mouthfeel on the finish. Would never consider this an amber label as currently categorized.

Bottle under the label "John Sleeman Presents Dark 50 Amber Ale". Nice reddish hue with an average head. Sugary malt flavors with a toffee twist and a nice tart finish. Decent.

This one was in a US variety pack and said "Dark Amber 50." Has a decent fall-looking orange-brown coloring. Malt, dough and toffee in the aroma. Sugary malty hoppy palate. I liked this stuff, one of the better Sleeman’s I’ve had. Thanks for the trade Ron.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 RAYBOY01 (2003) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 4, 2006
What kind of commercial description is that? "...a bolder, lighly darker beer..." Good looking amber. Flavors of rich roasted malts...caramel and toffee...with some mild hop bitterness...mainly PNW type citrus-type hops. But the flavors fade quickly and the body is way too thin to sustain any real interest...and there is that slight metallic aftertaste that nobody enjoys very much...

Poured a shady brown with fluffy head. Aroma had some caramel and some skunk. There’s a small smack of hop bitterness and even a bit of roasty maltiness vaquely reminiscent of pitch/charcoal. It would be a real stretch for me to say this was tasty, I rated it at room temperature.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Cornfield (5240) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - JAN 1, 2006
Clear copper body with a slender beige head. The aroma is faint, a lightly toasted amber malt. No hints of hops here. The flavor is a lightly roasted malt with an odd rusty taste, leaving a not too pleasant metallic aftertaste.

nice color and pallet, goes down smooth but leaves something to be desired, possibly a stronger hop flavor. No noticable aftertaste

Great tasting beer that went down very smooth with some pizza and apps. Would have this beer anytime if a more hoppier beer was not available.
