1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 GoufCustom (225) - HONG KONG - MAY 20, 2013
341 ml clear bottle bought at CitySuper in New Town Plaza, Shatin.
Clear golden yellow colour; Very thin head and residual white foam which last for about 20 seconds; Near zero lacing with lively carbonation; Smell of light skunk, thin malt, sweet corn, syrup, and grass. Thankfully the skunk died out pretty fast after 1 minutes; Mid to light sweet taste of light malt, with sweet corn, strong rice, light bread, club soda, lemon, sugar syrup, citrus and light grass; Med to light body, watery palate; Taste is flat and thin American blond ale taste, not creamy at all, with strong corn and rice plus a dash of syrup in the middle. Oh dear… Hoppiness is fairly light grassy nose, light citrus and straw taste, plus barely detectable bitterness. Light sweet finish; Slightly dry after taste, very easy to mouth.
Comments: During my time in Canada, Guelph was a really small town, and macro-wise Sleeman was a nobody when compared to Molson and Labatt, so I wonder why Sapporo bought it up… back to the brew: its cheapo clear bottle and skunk nose gave me the poor impression, and the grainy sweet corn syrupy taste certainly enhance the brand’s lowly reputation. Other than that, it’s pretty much true to the style, nothing outstanding and quite a easy drinking. It comes to this shore at imported price, and sure enough it doesn’t worth the money.

Pale yellow pour. Blah. Creamed corn. Too sweet. To be expected, I guess.

Pours a clear pale straw with medium carbonation and a small white head. Aroma of faint malts and sweet corn(DMS). Taste is a low hp bitterness with some malty sweetness, DMS and some fruity esthers. Light and crisp o style but very lifeless.

Dziwne piwo. spotkałem się pierwszy raz z tym gatunkiem. dziwna mieszanka piwa ale z lagerem, a więc dolna fermentacja miesza się z górną. Niezbyt mi pasuje aż tak drastyczne połączenie.
1.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 AshtonMcCobb (1459) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 20, 2013
Bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours golden with lazy bubbles and a decent head. The nose isn’t good - struck match, cloying and sugary. The taste is like burnt pizza and there are notes of creamy and honey - again it’s cloying. The palate has a medium body and texture but not a clean finish, at all. Overall, this is worse than a beer that tastes of nothing - it tastes of something and it’s unpleasant.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 lotsalaughs (104) - Alberta, CANADA - DEC 2, 2012
caramel, cereal, citrus, grass, woody, pale, golden, clear, minimal head, white foam, light sweetness, lightly bitter, light body, thin feel, slick feel, average carbonation, astringent
A thin, watery beer. Nice colour on the pour with minimal head. Some aromas of grass/citrus, slightly woody. Sweetness overrides hoppiness too much in my opinion, and mouthfeel less creamy than would think for style. A basic beer - I think Saporo infuence with rice addition very apparent.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 zimbo (332) - SCOTLAND - DEC 1, 2012
Like usual this has has a faint sort of eau de toilet element to it with a fluttering of sour and maybe a haunting but very distant buttery quality too. Nonetheless when these elements come together it hardly makes for a perfect marriage.
