COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This malty and flavorful beer is deep copper red in color and has a remarkably smooth taste. Brown sugar augments the grain bill to add a sweet mouth-feel that blends exquisitely with ample Cascade hops. Enjoy! (OG 1.074, IBU’s 28-30, Alc 6.5% a/v)

Clear copper color with ivory sheen. Toasted caramel, earthy, tea leaf aromas. medium body, average carbonation. Toasted, spicy caramel flavors with some earthy vegetal kelp---decent

Reddish Amber in color, clear with a thin head. Nice balance light earth like qualities. Good balanced flavors with a light extra bittering from the hops. Sweet in taste with a dry finish.

[Tap] Tried this at the brewpub in mid-September. Pours an even shade of amber with a small white head. Aroma of caramel and light brown sugar with fainter hints of peat and English hops. Toffee, sweet rolls and earthy hops are the main flavor contributers here. Fine carbonation leads to a hearty mouthfeel. One of the better beers I had at the brewpub.

Draft at brewery: Another one from Sleeping Lady that I thought was too sweet. Loaded with elements of caramel, honey, sweet peat and cereal. Hops were earthy, restrained and they only offered a mild amount of grass-like bitterness.

UPDATED: MAY 20, 2011 Draft at Humpy’s in ANC. Deep, dark with a small film of bubbles that try. Nose is cocoa and orangey-caramel. Flavor is similar with maybe a hint of earthy smoke, but I may have just been wishing, Medium body is watery, drinkable and well-balanced.

Had this on tap at the brew pub in Anchorage in August 2009. Colour... dark amber with a thick head. Nose... sweetly malty with some hops and biscuit. Palate... gentle CO2, plenty of sweet malt, yet somewhat dry-ish, some biscuit flavour and light brown sugar with a medium finish.

6/09/2009: Sleeping Lady Braveheart Scottish Ale has a similar appearance as the 49er Amber but is maltier, less roasty, and has more brown sugar flavor and sweetness. It is medium-bodied, soft and smooth with hints of sweet, dark fruis in the finish. I like the vanilla-citrus hoppiness that is balanced with toasted grains and a touch of caramel. This is a pretty good representation of a Scottish Ale that pairs very well with the Pineapple Bread Pudding!

Sample (draught) at the Snow Goose Restaurant/Sleeping Lady Brewing Company in Anchorage, Alaska. Rating #14 for this beer.
