Backlog december 2011

Golden color , ok foam
Medium body & complexity
Love Belgian beer, but this one was truly a disappointment (but still better then industrial pale lagers)

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
7.5%. Belgian Strong Ale.
Wet yeasty nose. Wet cement or wet clay. Lightly sour nose reminiscent of cider or apple vinegar.
Lightly carbonated in the palate. Thick, malty sweet palate. This is cut by the alcohol more than hops, which are close to non-existent.
Nice sweet malty flavors continue to bloom a little more after in the palate and the back of the throat developing some sweet tropical fruit complexity.
Would still go with a Karmeliet if considering a tripel or a strong ale.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Citrus, honey, hop, yeast.
Golden colored beer with a persistent white foamy head.
Starts with sweet honey and ends in bitter citrus. Not really deep.
A decent beer, refreshing and without an alcohol taste.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle 33cl. Clear light yellow with a huge, sturdy white top. Nice carbonation. Aroma is not very special, a bit of citrus is recognizable. The taste is a pleasant bitterness, which turns a bit sharper as the aftertaste develops. Reminds me a bit of Duvel.

Iets troebele goudgele kleur met een volle kraag. Ruikt moutig, hop, kruiden, zoetig. Smaakt zoetig, citrus, mout en suiker.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
33 cl. bottle @ home. Golden yellow beer with medium white head, good looking beer. Aroma is hard to get, almost non-existent. There is some bitterness in the taste, mixed with some sweet hints. Palate is watery, a bit pale, reminds me of Vedett somehow. Light beer, perhaps good for a warm day, but there are better alternatives.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Little cloudy golden yellow appearance. There is a little white layer of foam. It looks like a pilsner, but than cloudy. This cloudiness tells you this is more than a regular beer. The smell is rather simple. A hint of cheap cafe beer. But there are some fruity sweet raisin notes. The taste is of a nice blonde beer. Sugary sweet in the finish. Further there is the typical blonde beer taste. Very nice, but not very special.

An average belgian beer. Nice head, nice colour, taste is not bad, but not also not great.
