COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is another unique creation from Sloop Brewing. The Black C is as opaque as the body of water it was named after. The crew of malts comes from Belgium, England and Germany. A generous combination of American hops, all of which begin with the letter "C" contributes to its fruity notes. The Belgian strain of yeast delivers a dry and crisp finish to the beer. THis global collaboration of ingredients creates a dark, hoppy ale that will please any craft beer enthusiast.

Nice floral hop aroma with nice roasted dark malt aroma. Flavor is malty with some coffee flavors. Dry finish. Not sweet. Hop balance is nice, but hop flavors are dominated by the roasted malt/coffee flavors. Nice beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz.. bottle. Pours black with a moderate-large tan head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of spicy Belgian yeast. Not really getting any citrus. Some mild roast in the nose as well. The flavor is frankly odd as does not resemble an IPA in any form. Ample spice which I am assuming is coming from the Belgian yeast strain they used. There is no citrus whatsoever, despite all of the "C" hops they used. A bit of molasses in there. Mild bitterness at the finish. Medium bodied. Not something I would look to try again.

Bottled 22oz from decicco. Poured a dark reddish brown. Some hops and such. Spicy lighter mouth feel and more resinish than most black IPA s

Location: 22 oz bottle from The Hop, 10/11/13

Aroma: The nose is a nice mix of resin and roast, some fruity notes, and a bit of spice
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color, with a reddish hue, small beige head, and light lace
Flavor: The taste has a medium-plus bitterness, light spice, and plenty of balancing roast
Palate: The body is medium, with a soft carbonation, smooth feel, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: This one is a pretty nice Black IPA. The components you’d want in this style are all here, and all work solidly together. It’s not an absolute standout, but it is a more than solid beer.

I determined that I should try the Black IPA style once again to see if I could try to like it. Pours a medium brown black with slate tones. Thin puddled head. Some thin lacing. Again I find this style to be muddled and unclear about itself. A swirling morass of unbalance. It reminds me of the contents of a suitcase after 11 days on the road. Funky. All the pieces are there, and yes, its beer, but crisp hops and darkness just dont seem to get along. Kind of like souvenirs wrapped in dirty clothes.

Bottle sample. Clear dark brown with a nice beige head. Pleasant hoppy aromas of sharp pines with some tropical notes and roast. Dark cocoa flavors, soft roastiness and med-hi bitterness. Over carbonated, interesting and overall OK.

bottle, from Half Time Beverage. good aroma, sweet, yeasty, fruity. Pine, bread, citrus, little green apple, little smokey. Clean, dark orangy brown, good head, spotty lace. Bitter flavor. meduim body, creamy oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation, bitter finish. Pretty good, like it says, they kind of jump around in the ingredient area which plays out in the aroma and flavor. Initial aroma was nice when I opened the bottle, mellowed as it warmed...
