bierkoning (4603), La Tropica, Netherlands May 13, 2008 Bottle from TBone, sold as Slottskällans Classic Pils. Pale golden color, cloudy. Vennel and mint in the aroma. A soft grassy bitterness and mint in the flavor. Hints of dust and apple. Not a classic pilsener, but not unpleasant.
Maria (3788), Thisted, Denmark Jan 4, 2008 Golden with an OK head. The aroma is malty with a hint of hops. The flavour is malty with a nice bitterness. I would have liked it to have some notes of fruit or flower, and I find it a bit boring and ordinary. It’s not what I expected from this brewery, that makes a lot of nice beers. 1882 larsga (2098), Oslo, Norway Sep 14, 2007 Huge white coarse head doesn’t last. Pale yellow body. Light sugary, caramelly aroma dominated by hoppy, earthy peas. Notes of paper. Harmonic and balanced. Dry, yet firmly sweetish, caramelly taste with earthy, strawy, pea-like hop notes. Dry, lingering straw and grain aftertaste with hoppy notes. Wow! This must be one of the best pilseners I’ve tasted. It’s light, tasty, and even ... dare I say it ... structured. Excellent. (0.5l bottle from Systembolaget, Stockholm.) thewolf (3392), Kolding, Denmark Aug 22, 2007 Bottle. [thank you, Myrup, for bringing this from Sweden]
Pours a very pale yellow with a big fluffy white head. Aroma is malty, with a more dough-like feel rather than hay-like. There is a touch of fruity hops as well. Medium carbonation. Flavour is limited, with a definite dryness to it. Not very sweet and has a slight metallic edge. Okay. ekstedt (1731), Göteborg, Sweden Apr 13, 2007 Updated: Apr 17, 2007Bottle. Clear golden, medium fluffy head. Quite weak malt aroma, some hints of potatoe and boiled vegetables, but also some nice floral hops. Quite thin and watery. Dry and bitter, but with an unpleasant metallic touch.
