COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aged on bourbon barrels.

Klassifikation: Fatlagrad imperial stout

Alkoholhalt: 11 %

Clear, dark brown body with a small, off-white head that almost disappears completely before it manages to leave much foam on the glass. The aroma is very strong and sweet, with delicious roasted notes, dark caramel, chocolate, dark dried fruits and vanilla in the back. The flavours are quite gently roasted, I get more chocolate than coffee. Also sweet dried dark fruits and pleasant alcohol that gives a warming finish. The alcohol also dries up the palate somewhat in the aftertaste. The barrel ageing hasn’t taken over the soul of the beer, it has just given it a nice vanilla touch, and maybe some extra boozy notes. The body is almost full, the texture is oily and the carbonation is soft to moderate. A very nice, vinous and gentle imp stout!
[33 cl bottle, from Vinmonopolet Online, Oslo]

ClubGonzo (3946) - Bergen, NORWAY - JAN 27, 2014
Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a pitch black body with a quickly diminishing off-white head. Nose is vanilla, wood, licorice, butterscotchy caramel tones and hints of higher alcohol, mild bourbon and muscovado sugar. Taste is caramel, licorice, vanilla, mild bourbon tones, wood and hints of dark sugars. Full body, near-fizzy carbonation - force carbed too much after a long stay in the barrels, perhaps? A bit sweet, and the bourbon profile remains in the background but nevertheless a pretty decent beer, all in all.

Black, thin tanned head. Smells of vanilla, chocolate, coffee and roast. Medium sweet, bourbon and vanilla, roast, coffee and oak. A nice finish with moderate bitterness. Quite nice, but the normal imperial stout is better

Kjempegodt.

UPDATED: JUL 27, 2014 Temporary rating. At some point I might re-write this.

Dark brown, rather small frothy fizzy mocha head, quick diss, small trace. Sweet, malty, toasted malts, vanilla fudge, sweet liquroice candy, dark choc, charred wood, tiny bourbon, cereal, hay, vanilla hard candy, tiny alcohol, Sweet, roasted malts, dark chocolate, sweetened coffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood, bourbon, coconut milk, vanilla hard candy, alcohol, cereal, cookie dough, hay, Round, tiny astringent, slightly boozy, medium. Sweet, bitter, roasted malts, toffee, dark choc, charred wood, bourbon, coconut milk, alcohol, vanilla fudge, Better than the first time I tried it at the release. Has mellowed down alot. This is now a good beer but it’s far from great I’m afraid.
