COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aged on bourbon barrels.

Klassifikation: Fatlagrad imperial stout

Alkoholhalt: 11 %

Taste comprises dark fruit, chocolate, rich and complex, wood, booze, pinch of spice. Full bodied with soft carbonation leading to a boozey finish. Decent enough.

Draught. Pours black with a beige head. Roasty and malty aroma. Nice and smooth mouthfeel, a bit oily. Taste is malty, roasty and has licorice. Some sweetness on taste, vanilla and blueberry. Aftertaste has bourbon taste and is even a bit leathery.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of Swedish friends. Thanks Alex and Thomas! Pours a black appearance with a nice sized brown head. A bit tangy fruity, plum, raisin, fig, big anise, roasty malty aroma. Kind of bitter and strangely cloying syrupy sugary, dark chocolate, light vanilla, big raisin/dark grape/anise flavor. I really didn’t get any bourbon in this. Pretty similar to the non-barrel aged version.

Tap @ 3 små rum. Pours black brown with a good tanned head leaving laces. Aroma is fruity roasted a bit sweet some raisins and vanilla malty. Flavor is not quite what I had expected, thin body not too much roasted at all fruity some vanilla but that’s all I could spot of the barrel. Finishes bitter sweet and fruity.

33 cl bottle ordered by the single bottles from Systembolaget. BB 140912, sampled on November 9, 2012.
Very dark brown color, small light brown head. Sweet, alcohol, chocolate, smoke scent. Sweet, alcohol, acidic, dry, grainy taste. Dry, grainy aftertaste. Warming alcohol. Medium to smooth mouthfeel, medium high bitterness.
Feels rather young, for my taste needs to rest a bit and smooth off the hard alcohol edges.

mjs (4742) - Helsinki, FINLAND - NOV 3, 2012
(Draught at Kaisla, 20121103) The beer poured black. Its head was small and light brown. Aroma had roasted malts, liquorice and wood. Palate was full bodied, warming and dry with quite high carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, vineousness, wood, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was woody, vineous and roasty. Not so good as the normal version and especially the palate was quite weird with the high biting carbonation.

LoFi (1594) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 31, 2012
Bottle. Black with a dark beige head. Aroma: roasted, mayonnaise, toffee, some coffee and chocolate. Taste: same touch of mayonnaise as in the aroma, soy sauce, together this reminds me of a certain inside out maki, also kräftspad med dill, coffee and cocoa, citrus, bourbon, medium bitter. Quite full bodied. This has probably gone a bit wrong. The base beer is much better. I have another bottle in the cellar to try later, and can update the rating if necessary.
