4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Thanks Secret Santa Jonas ;-) for this awesome brew, I must have been very nice this year as it was on my wishlist.
Opaque colored, small fast diminishing off white head. Nice round coffee and chocolate nose. Smoked in the beginning, chocolate nibs and intense blackberry taste. Reminds on walking through a basement filled with coal eggs - not in an disgusting way. Nice tabacco aftertaste. Silky texture - great balance all in all. I*m quite attracted to the fact that is is not that thick - yummie.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 11, 2011 Medium tan head doesn’t last. Nearly opaque black body goes dark brown at edges with floaties and carbonation. Roasty coffee and toffee aroma with earthy licorice notes. Dry-sweet earthy chocolatey taste with funky, faintly acidic notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, smooth mouthfeel with faint heat. Dry funky earthy chocolate aftertaste with coffee and earth notes. Some alcohol, too, and a kind of strawberry chewing gum character. Quite nice and well made. Harmonic and drinkable. (0.33l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAY 11, 2007 Black with off-white head. The aroma is big and has notes from chocolate and tar. Litte sweet. The tase is dry and little bitter (3,6). RE-RATE: This time I find more in this almoust perfect brew. There is plums, vanilla and chocolate in this on. The flavor is also little winous I think and very complex. Toptop...

(Bottle at Fynske Øldage) Rich, chocolate aroma. Heavy, soft mouthfeel. Sweet flavor. Too sweet maybe. But style-true.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle thanks to sk8viking once again! BB 9/05. As Buck put it, the pour is deep ruby in light.. and had a solid 1/2" well-retained tan head... wonderful lacing. Aroma was chock fulla roasty coffee and dark chocolate.. as well as lighter caramel and just a hint of dark fruit. Flavor had a bitter roastiness from lips through the medium-length finish. Chocolate, coffee, and licorice provided much of the body... and some alcohol and a caramelly sweetness were evident on the finish. Very good impy.. and the flavors really popped as this wamed toward room temp.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is one of those beers that if you remind yourself that this is a European stout, you can get into; if you dwell too much on the American examples you’ll end up shortchanging this beer. Red on brown with a head that leans more to the white than off-white, which is curious for an Imperial Stout (by American standards at least). A layer of tea amid the roasted dimensions and grape edges. Easy drinking, and a bit thin if you’re picky, but satisfying nonetheless.
