COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

33 cL bottle, 2008 edition. Pours almost fully black with a small tan head. Dark and hardroasted malt aroma. Flavour too is quite dominantly hardroasted malt with a light chocolate smoothness. Bitter and slight acidic flavours arising. Light coffee like note. Smooth finish with a nice acidity and bitterness.

A black beer with a fine light brown head. The aroma is slightly smoked and sweet - too sweet for a stout. The flavor is smoked, sweet from a good maltblend, and slightly bitter. It is not stouty enough - I was a little disappointed.

UPDATED: JUN 3, 2006 (Bottle 33 cl) Almost black beer albeit a slight reddish note. Thick, brown licorice-like head. Extremely full-bodied with a dry, burned mouthfeel and a pronounced bitterness probably mainly originating in the black malts. Very complex flavour-patterns and an impressingly, warming alcohol. Very sophisticated beer to be enjoyed in small doses. 021004

Black colour with small brown head. Aroma of nuts, dried fruit and a bit smoke. Sweet flavour with notes of nuts and chocolate, well balanced bitteness. The alcohol is well hidden, and though the high alcohol volume, its still very drinkable. Excellent stout.

Bottled. Black opaque, brown small head. Fruity/roasted aroma. Bitter roasted taste with hints of alcohol. Very nice imperial stout indeed.

UPDATED: JUN 11, 2004 Re-rate bottled. Dark black with brown head. More mature than when I first tried it. Some fruitiness up front, then loads of coffee and licorice. The malt profile is still kind of simpistic though. Sampled the pre-release draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm.
Dark black with brief beige head. Rich chocolate aroma. Full bodied and rather sweet, but not very firm. Big on licorice flavour with an odd note of plastic. Molasses and salt in the finish. (7/4/6/3/12)

Warning! Early amateur rating! Dark and sumptuos but avoids that oily feel. A good level of dark chocolate and bags of sweet and velvety malt. Very very smooth malty finish. No bitterness,

Black color; huge brownish head. Nice aroma of dark chocolate, dark caramel, tar. Round body; the age has smoothered the corners, the mouthfeel is very smooth, yet powerful; strong dark chocolate flavor, with some pleasant bitterness, evident also because the bitterness is quite low; it has a piquant character, and the alcohol presence is pleasant. Very good.

2010-02-21, vintage 2009, 9% ABV, 6-4-8-5-15=38
Black color; the head reduces to a thin layer, quickly; interesting to notice, this year the bottle and label are different, and the beer is filtered. Very light caramel aroma, and ashes. Medium strength body, it has a sweetish caramel flavor with some chocolate. Good bitterness level, balanced till the end. Pleasant brew, but missing some vibes, difficult to relate it to the 2005 vintage tasted side to side.
An Imperial Mild.

2010-02-21, vintage 2005, 5 years old, 9% ABV, 7-4-8-5-17=41
Black color; the head reduces to a thin layer, quickly; interesting to notice, compared to the newer vintage this bottle still has a yeast deposit. The aroma is mild, mostly playing with chocolate notes, there is also very light roasted malt and honey. Correct body strength, even if it has a lean mouthfeel, the chocolate, caramel and roasted malt flavors blend well, to create a very pleasant composition, that doesn’t suffer from the ageing; it’s a bit drier and clearly less sweet than the 2009 vintage. In the final, yet well balanced, some of the bitterness is replaced by an additional alcohol warmth.
Very good.

2003-05-11, 8.5% ABV, 8-4-9-5-18=44
Dark color. Deep aroma, of malt, roasted malt, liquorice, light phenol. Smooth, full malty, liquorice, thick, oily, a lot of caramel, not so much alcohol. Long and extremely strong final, the bitterness is completed by the caramel and light liquorice. Well round beer, excellent; it must reach a higher level within a couple of years.
