(Bottle 50 cl) As the name promises this really is black - pitch black. The light brown head is tall and handsome help by a carbonation that’s a bit too much. Very dry with pronounced burned aromas and some smoked flavours. Very dry, bitter finish. Very archetypical Porter. 270103

Jeppe (2631) - Ølbutikken, DENMARK - JAN 17, 2005
A dark brown beer with a red gleam and a foamy light brown head. Strong roasted aroma with herb, liquorice and fruit notes. Roasted flavor with a nice fruity base. Flowery and hoppy notes and a burnt tone in the end. Another good one from Slottskällans, sadly they have stopped brewing it.....

JorisPPattyn (7363) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - OCT 16, 2004
Very dark brown, with a red shine; huge dirty-brown head. Liquorice, coffee and a fruity aroma, mostly blackcurrant-like. Outspoken burnt taste, carbonised-like. This is indeed completely over the top: I can taste & feel the scorched, carbonised amylum. Fruity, sourish flavour typical for this kind of beer, but again, not very refined, no deeper aroma’s. Bit thin texture under the stout creaminess. Dusty carbon. The nose promessed much - the taste, however, failed to deliver. Not so the 2 crazy Danes, thanks to whose kindness I sampled this rare bird.

Bottle @ Ølbaren, Copenhagen. Very dark brown body with a ruby tint. A nice big tan head. Nice roasty malt aroma, withj some hints of licorice and some hoppiness. Nice roasty flavor, good coffee flavor. Rather dry porter, but nice.

rauchbier (3409) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - APR 26, 2004
Bottle, thanks to the 3 Danes. Jet black, moderate coffee beige head and low condition. Gentle coffee roastiness in the nose. Chewy malt and dry roastiness in the mouth with some yeastiness and a suggestion of Belgian dubbel. Low dry roast barley accented finish.

Spiesy (2338) - Sydney, Greater London, AUSTRALIA - MAR 9, 2004
Bottled, at the Wenlock Arms, via Belgium, Denmark and Sweden. Thanks to Rauchbier and the crazy Danes for this little number. Dark brown with a full brown head. Toasted, ash flavours and smooth pasted across the palate, giving a very uniform representation of the beer.
