General_Gao (2575), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Nov 9, 2007 750 ml corked wine bottle from heemer77. Thanks a lot Eric. Poured an extremely pale yellow color with a few bubbles. Looked like a glass of white wine. No lace, of course, but it did have legs. Aroma was of subdued apples and white wine. There was also a hint of peach. Very sweet on the tongue with accompanying warm alcohol. Nice profile of apple, honey, and alcohol flavors. Meads are not really my bag, but I liked this one. I assume that this was one of Eric’s older bottles as it seems to have mellowed nicely. I detected no astringency or strange flavors. iowaherkeye (1413), relocated to Santa Rosa f/Iowa, California, USA Mar 18, 2007 Courtesy of heemer77, thank you Eric. Clear with a slight pale yellow tinge. Aroma was a little bit like white wine with some sweet honey and alcohol. Flavor was the same with some big ETOH astringency on the tongue and a dry finish. Light bodied. I haven’t had a mead yet that I really liked. heemer77 (3781), Savannah, Missouri, USA Nov 9, 2006 Updated: Jan 21, 2007From a 750 ml wine bottle. They told me the mead sells fast when it is available. In the future, they plan on making some flavored meads. Thanks a lot to my aunt and uncle, Steve and Rita, for getting me a bottle of this Kansas made mead. This poured with a light yellow body. The aroma was floral with dandelions and perfume. There was also a hint of plastic. The taste was old honey with some alcoholic notes. There was also some subtle pear and vanilla. The body was fairly thin for the alcohol. A decent mead and I am aging another bottle to see how it smooths out. I tried this again recently and the bottle I opened a couple of months ago has improved a lot. The taste is much smoother and the plastic notes went away.
