3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber. After gushing, it poured near-black with a towering, sticky tan head. The aroma picked up sweet, lightly-smoked black and chocolate malts, with vanilla and slight herbal accents around.. simple, toasty, and welcoming. The flavor found well-roasted black malt, chocolate, and coffee at the core, with lightly soured black malts and mildly bitter coffee grounds around.. finished with smoked malt-kissed black patent and a touch of sourness. Light-medium bodied, dry, and roasty on the palate.. smooth and well-balanced.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(22 oz. (bottled 12/11) from Grain and Vine) Dark brown with brown highlights. Large, rocky tan head forms quickly. Aroma is lots of Band-Aid/plastic with chocolate trying to fight through underneath. Mouthfeel is smooth, a bit thin, a touch fizzy. As expected, the flavor is marred by Band-Aid/plastic, esp. initially. There is also a sourish tinge that really doesn’t go away. There is biiter and sweet chocolate with a bit of coffee roast as well. Seems like a decent beer but this sample was ruined by infection.

1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20
Bomber bottle and served in no-nik pint glass: Pours a deep brown with a fading head and spotty lacing. The aroma has notes of soured milk (lactic acid), chocolate, walnuts, ashy smokey and bready malts. The beer is pretty much undrinkable, far too much acidity and not enough malty goodness. Methinks it is infected with some medicinal notes as well. Well Slumbrew is O for 2... not gonna get anymore of my monies. Dumped the 2nd half of the bottle.
