COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rich black porter with a unique blend of chocolate, coffee, roasted and nutty flavors. Brewed with cocoa powder and conditioned with cacao nibs from Taza Chocolate. Bold flavors from the cacao nibs and black malts are balanced with a special blend of pale malts, oats and wheat to produce a lush and lingering mouthfeel.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized brown colored bubbles that were and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque black brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The weak aroma was brown malt. The mouth feel was very tingly at the start and at the finish with a strong malty aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of black malt roasted malt chocolate brown malt and hops. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

22oz bottle form 12/2011..opened 06/13..uh oh. Opaque brown-black body. Oily, patchy, beige head. Actually holds up quite well, no real age issues. Oily, classic Porter taste, some caramel, lots of cocoa. On the fuller side of medium bodied, quite mellow and quaffable. A touch of oxidized amber malt under the rich cocoa maybe. OK.

Pours a deep brown with ruby highlights and a very tall, lightly ruby-tan, creamy head. Aroma Lots of malt in the nose. Light chocolate, lots of toasted malt, light bitter roasted malt at the end. Flavor has a lot of chocolate early but then there is a slight conflict of flavor in the middle where they chocolate and toasted malt donít play well. The finish on the brew is slightly nutty and malty but overall kinda bland. Body is creamy, mild carbonation and a strong amount of lacing. Overall an okay brew but the flavor is a bit muddled.

Coffee, dark roast aroma, mild fig. Black, thin tan head, good lacing. Coffee and sweet apple core. Nondescript figs are also present. Rather fruity porter, but the coffee notes balance it out fairly well.

Serving: 22 oz. bottle. It pours a very dark brown with a large, dark brown head. The nose is very roasty, more stout than porter, with strong earth notes. A brash roasted malt hits the tongue and doesnít let go. Slight burnt notes, minerals, earth, and some coffee come along. Full bodied and denser than I associate with the style. Itís a solid brew for sure.

I had this on tap at Blue 5 in Roanoke, VA. Itís dark brown with little head at all, and the aroma and taste are strong, rich chocolate. It isnít at all complex, but itís really tasty and went well with a bleu cheese burger.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a one centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, light chocolate, cereal, bread and a hint of nuts. Medium-bodied; Strong roasty flavour with a lot of chocolate and coffee notes, a hint of spice, caramel, oatmeal and a good dose of bitterness on the end. Aftertaste shows a relatively good complexity with a pleasant sweetness, some cocoa bitterness, a little pit fruit flavours and an alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice beer that I wasnít expecting so much from, but turned out to be well worth the drink - however, itís price wasnít so great. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Arrowine in Arlington, Virginia on 05-January-2013 for US$8.99 sampled at home in Washington on 23-March-2013.
