Rich black porter with a unique blend of chocolate, coffee, roasted and nutty flavors. Brewed with cocoa powder and conditioned with cacao nibs from Taza Chocolate. Bold flavors from the cacao nibs and black malts are balanced with a special blend of pale malts, oats and wheat to produce a lush and lingering mouthfeel.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with creamy tan head. Nose and taste of roast chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted nuts, burnt oatmeal and toasted wheat malt. Very dry finish. Lighter medium body.

Bottle @ Richard’s Tasting. Dark brown pour with a massive head. Acidic roasted malt on the nose. Some old cocoa, coffee, and old garbage. A bit of smoke and band aid, too. The flavor is really acidic and lightly bitter. Some old coffee grounds, roast, and smoke. Some band aids and paper as well. This is just unpleasant.

Pours dark cloudy brown with a razor thin beige head. Aroma and taste is of sweet dark roasted chocolate malt with a mild dry roasted coffee bitterness. Palate is a medium smooth body with a bit of creamy mouth feel. The finish is the same as taste. Has a very rich and choclatey flavor. Overall a very good and delicious porter. drink up.

Nearly came out the top when I opened it, and it pours out nothing but foam. Seriously the whole mug was full of pale brown foam. I took a swig from the bottle and it just exploded into foam in my mouth. It finally settles out to a clear cola-brown. Mostly a pleasant roastiness in the aroma along with some alcohol. Sweet, charred, and a little fruity in the flavor. The chocolate from Taza comes through loud and clear lending its own bitterness. This is a seriously good porter, brought down but not conquered by over-carbonation.

It poured a black color with a light tan head. The aroma was of roasted malts, chocolate, some smokiness and some floral hops. The taste was similar to the aroma with some chocolate on the finish. Decent.

Chocolate, coffee, and a little metallic funk in the aroma. Flavor is mostly bitter with smoke, coffee grinds, and cocoa. Roast coffee bitterness and a little alcohol in the finish. Pretty good.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2015 Pours black with a tan head. Nutty flavor that also includes dark chocolate. Definitely a solid beer.

On the Seventh Day of Christmas 2013 the beer gods gave to me . . . one robust porter. Pours a dark brown color with a caramel colored head. Aroma of caramel, cocoa, and hints of vanilla, with a nice roast profile. Sweet roasty caramel taste with a hit of hops and cocoa and vanilla on the backend. Nice mouthfeel. Well balanced.

Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malts, chocolate. Taste is bitter, astringent, and a bit harsh. Not a smooth roasted flavor. Bite lingers on my tongue a bit.

Bottle; Pour is dark brown, a fine bubbled, one finger light khaki head into this glass, with average retention here, some decent cobweb as well. The nose is grain, chocolate cake, modest roast, with more dark fruit than expected. The flavor profile is chocolate cake, bitter morsels, dark fruit, some grains present again, moving to roast, with a lingering bitterness here. It grew on me a bit, I suppose.
