Rich black porter with a unique blend of chocolate, coffee, roasted and nutty flavors. Brewed with cocoa powder and conditioned with cacao nibs from Taza Chocolate. Bold flavors from the cacao nibs and black malts are balanced with a special blend of pale malts, oats and wheat to produce a lush and lingering mouthfeel.

It pours a dark black and gives a nice thick half inch foamy off-white head leaving some nice foamy lacing in rings. The smell has chocolate and malts up front coming forth roasty, smokey and robust. The taste is sweet with the chocolate and malts. The palate is smooth and creamy, thick and heavy. Overall, wow, what a great American Porter on a cold winter’s night that I would have again.

Had a funky smell at first, but probably because I had to drink it from the bottle. However, the taste is fabulous. It is a poor man's Founders Breakfast Oatmeal stout, which is still very good. Nice coffee and chocolate aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at The Summer Shack, Alewife. Inviting aromas of roasted malt and rich dark chocolate. Pitch black with a thin tan head. I found the mouthfeel on this superb- super smooth and supple. Creamy without being cloying, rich without being thick, roasted but not burnt. Flavours of dark chocolate and espresso with a hint of plums. One of the nicest porters I've had, this was fantastic a great finish to a short trip to Boston.

I never expected to find this one in Chicago; I guess I’ll chalk it up to the wonders of globalization. Draft. Almost black, medium brown head, delicate lacing. Aroma of lightly spiced coffee taste is spiced coffee grounds. Tasty.

Bottle. Pours a dark opaque color with a small tan head. Nose is chocolate, big chocolate, with a dark dry roastiness and malted milk. Palate is creamy up front with a nice firm bitterness and carbonation. Flavors of malted milk, roasted malt notes, dark fruit and licorice.

On the Seventh Day of Christmas 2013 the beer gods gave to me . . . one robust porter. Pours a dark brown color with a caramel colored head. Aroma of caramel, cocoa, and hints of vanilla, with a nice roast profile. Sweet roasty caramel taste with a hit of hops and cocoa and vanilla on the backend. Nice mouthfeel. Well balanced.

Vanilla and cocoa aroma. Not a fan of this brewery so far. Tootsie roll taste. Black pour from 22oz at Lakehouse

From a bottle. Poured a medium brown with a tan head that had nice retention and lace. Aroma had a nice roasted malt presence and a heavy chocolate presence. Flavor had layers of chocolate some semi-sweet and some dark chocolate which. There was a nice bitterness in the after taste which may have come from the cocoa powder. A really smooth beer that was full on the palate.

Pours a rich dark brown from the tap. I suppose slightly less bitter and full than a stout would be, great rich flavor with lots of dark chocolate richness.
