UPDATED: NOV 14, 2006 Cork bottle, pour was purple, huge foamy purple head. Nose was berries, but still under cut by ale. Sweet and refreshing, no trace of the 8%. The carbination carried the fruit to the nose, and the tart finish was great.
Missed some malt in the nose. Damn , still very refreshing, the berries are a pleasant compliment. As this warmed, lots of peper came out on the atip of my tongue, real stong in the after taste. Great fruit brew here folks.

Bottle from Doclock. Pours red with a pink head. Smells metallic with some pronounced raspberry notes. Taste is crisp and dry with raspberries there but not overwhelming you. Some hoppiness present as well. Very drinkable and enjoyable.

UPDATED: OCT 9, 2006 magnum bottle compliments of michael-pollack. Thanks! dark cranberry pour with thick foamy head. fresh aroma of wheat and raspberry, mild sugar. Smells like a Rasp cobbler. First sip was a bit much but the flavor mellows quickly. As it warms and as you continue to drink it mellows as well. nice raspberry, wheat, sour malts, mild sugars. clean wheat becomes more present as it warms. nice lacing throughout. This was very enjoyable. Thanks again Mike.

Tap: Pours a purpleish color with a slightly putple head. Flavor is of raspberries. There is some tart flavor followed by slightly sweet raspberries. One comment was that it tasted like raspberry ice tea. A well done fruit beer that can actually be drank.

Courtesy of Afterexile. The raspberry colored foam intrigued me but on first sip I didn’t detect much taste. I dug deeper and found some tart fruits flavors and had to swirl around to find the sweetness. This looks like a good beer to mix with others. The carbonation factor was high and there is a wheat flavor in here. The alcohol hid very well-I didn’t notice it until I was more than haldway through the bottle. I think this needs to be aged and then re-rated. The cork seemed to have a sweetness which needs to be developed with time and cellaring.

750 cork and wire. So I like fruit in my beers but this really isnt good. I mean its beautiful with its thick purple head, and a beautiful dark purple reddish body. Thats all ther is to this beer. The aroma is pesent - what you would expect, deep raspberries with a sweeet tartness. However, thats it, not much of anything else present. Taste however, is almost non-existent. For so many raspberries there really is nothing to taste. I feel its like soda with the strong carbonation but without the taste of anything. Leaves that aroma like tart raspberry in the aftertaste. As apooptosis says surprisingly unsweet. Oh yeah the alcohol was not apparent and I also had some weird smutz between the cork and the bottle top.

Dark purple pour with thin white head. Aroma of fresh raspberry. Great flavor of raspberry, but not too sweet.

Tap at Spuyten Duyvil - headless purple/red body, giving the appearance of red wine - juicy, fresh raspberry aroma, without anything artificial about it, as sometimes happens with these raspberry ales - quite thin-bodied for the abv, but the alcohol is also well-masked, making it taste more like a 4% beer than an 8% - quite dry and somewhat tannic - slight wheat malt flavor - this lies somewhere between a sweet fruit beer and a mild lambic - it went well with my cheese plate.

On tap at Spuyten Duyvil...Full flavor, filled with rasberries indeed. This isn’t the best raspberry beer I’ave had by any means, but it was OK. Despite the sweet, fruity aroma, this beer was surprisingly dry and nearly no sweetness at all.
