COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A cask only beer brewed to be poured exclusively from firkins, either via gravity from the bar top or through a beer engine. This traditional British ale is authentic cask conditioned beer with a smooth malt profile balanced by a subtle hop presence. Pours orange amber white head good retention. Nose is malt and faint flowers. Toasted and pale malt gently give way to flowers and light bitterness on the finish. Drinkable light to medium body. Ok.

Cask @ Albion. Hazy orange with large creamy light beige head, faint malt aroma, medium carbonation, watery thin body, abrupt finish with bitter aftertaste. Not a great brew.

On tap at Lost Dog Cafe in Merrifield, VA. Clear, amber gold with no discernible head fairly sparse lacing. Aroma of caramel, toast, mild stone fruit, orange and biscuit. Taste of sweet toasted malt, caramel, stone fruit, light citrus and floral hops. Medium body and low/medium carbonization. Rather sweet for a bitter (and yes I know that a proper "bitter" is not actually very bitter), but still a decent flavor. Definitely not "true to style" though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask pour at Strangeloves. Slightly hazy medium amber pour with a slim but solid foamy head. Lots of lace. Unexpectedly full body. Lots of bready notes. Blood orange honey wheat bread. Feels like theres some spicy rye in the body. Semi-sweet finish. Certainly a more blonde orangey citrus bitter in balance than a classic brown English bitter. Not bad, and certainly sessionable, but in no way a proper English Bitter.

Location: Cask at Beer Culture, 8/11/14

Aroma: It has a pretty dull nose with some toffee/caramel notes, toast, not much else
Appearance: It pours a clear orange color with a small, creamy head on top
Flavor: The taste is dull and light, a little malty sweetness, mild fruit, little else
Palate: The body is light and a little thin, a little lacking overall in mouthfeel
Overall Impression: I wasn’t all that impressed by this one. It’s thin, and there just isn’t much here. There’s no major flaw or anyhing, it doesn’t taste shunky, but it just lacks overall. That thinness shows the downside of cask, as there’s nothing to hide the lack of body.

Cask at Pizzeria Paradiso Old Town Alexandria. Poured a slightly hazy orange color with a big pillow froth head. Aroma is light earthy notes, hops, biscuit touch. Flavor was some earthy hops, nice light bitter malts. Crisp, pretty easy to drink. Very sessionable.

Very citrus with a sour finish. Pours clear orange on cask. Not much malt here. Not a huge deal. Churchkey.
