February 19, 2010 tasting with blankboy, garthicus, gregclow, jerc & mabel. My 750ml bottle - 2009 vintage. Clear deep amber with a large fluffy off-white head. Spicy aroma of sweet caramel malt, yeasty but dry - most interestingly this has a lot of cereal character, even some black pepper notes in the flavour, along with very mild alcohol and spice/caramel sweetness - the yeast/spice character begins to assert strongly as it warms. A nice thick, chewy mouthfeel to this one, perhaps a little under-carbonated, but good complexity for my part - classic Christmas spice with a welcome addition of strong grain - I liked it a lot.

Crisp amber coloured body with a large tan head. Aroma of light spices, caramel, toffee, earth, nuts and a bit of malt. Medium-bodied; Strong alcohol flavour with some very nice spices and herbal notes, a hint of toffee and a good complex pit fruit and grape finish. Aftertaste shows a good complex flavour with pit fruits, toffee, alcohol and a touch of light hops. Overall, a very nice beer for the season with a good complexity and some mellow sweetness, while showing a lot of alcohol. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in New York (Bowery location), New York on 25-November-2011 for US$7.99 sampled at my hockey Christmas party on 21-December-2011.

12 Fl. Oz. Can. Poured a reddish dark brown with a little bit of head. Aroma of spices and nutmeg. Taste very consistent with aroma plus cinnamon and ginger, It is a nice tasting brew but I’m having a hard time finding the beer in it; never the less perfect for winter all the spicing warms you up a bit.

12 oz can from The BeerHive in Pittsburgh. Plenty of spice and everything nice. A very good Christmas beer with enough mystery to keep you guessing as to the recipe and ingredients.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Buy Rite, 1/9/13, 2012 Edition

Aroma: The nose is fairly sweet, with lots of spice (cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.), and some bread
Appearance: It pours a mahogany color with a large, frothy beige head and streaks of lace
Flavor: The taste is all about the spice too, with lots of bread, much like a spice Christmas cake
Palate: The body starts medium, it is overly carbonation, and really thins out in the mid-end palate
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty decent Christmas spice beer, but that is a lot of spice. Add that to the carbonation and the thin finish, and I had a few issues with this one that kept me from truly enjoying it.

Not the best Christmas Ale I ever taste. It tasted a bit too much like spice and not enough beer. Nothing beats Great Lakes ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Champagne Bottle. Cinnamon, nutmeg scent. Deep brown, mahogany pour, transparent, with a white foamy head. Moderate cinnamon fronted flavor to nutmeg with some wheaty, graininess to the finish. Medium bodied with a very bubbly, frothy feel. Overall, a great lower ABV Christmas ale.

Wow they canned this one. It was a good winter warmer tons of spicing in it so stay away if you are not into that kind of brew. I think they went a little heavy on the nutmeg but that spice is a bitch to work with in any sort of cooking. Enjoyable none the less

Can. Ruby brown pour with tan head. Floral aroma with light spice and vinous aroma tones. Cinnamon, nutmeg tones with like grape/floral flavors dominate flavor.

The 2012 version. Thanks to Tomm Carroll for bringing this one out. Just a medley of spices in this orange hued beer. You can almost taste each individual addition but I got ginger most followed by cinammon. Lovely label as well.
