Upon the first sip of this porter, I thought I was drinking an actual cup of fresh brewed coffee. I’ve tasted other coffee-style beers in the past, but this one came the closest to tasting like an actual cup of joe. The beer poured basically black in color with a bubbly tan head. The head laced around the edges of the glass with a cascading effect. Freshly ground coffee was the first aroma noted, along with some light hops, cream, vanilla and chocolate malt. The body was medium in strength and felt like a real cup of coffee. The flavors resembled the aroma with much of the same traits, especially the fresh ground coffee, cream and vanilla notes. This is definitely one fantastic porter!

UPDATED: DEC 19, 2010 Dark brown with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, burnt wood, and a touch of vanilla bean. Taste of roasted malt, light smoke, heavy coffee, and a dry finish.

Dark brown pour with a thin light tan head. Strong coffee aroma wafts up from the glass. Not overly roasted, but some wisps of traditional porter elements. Flavor is dominated by a robust blend of gourmet coffee. Smells more like a light roast with subtle vanilla undertones than a bold Columbian. Hints of molasses and bitter roasted malts. Palate is light but still full enough as far as porters go. Quite a delicious session porter.

Tastes and smells exactly like an iced coffee. Which is good if that’s what you are looking for

This one poured a darker red color with a fluffy nitro beige head. Aroma was of lots of coffee, some latte mliky notes and light earthy tones. Flavor was much the same, just straight coffee and lightly toasted malts, nothing else getting in the way. A great session coffee beer.

Draught at the BrewPub’s 15 Anniversary Party: Aroma of bitter coffee. Poured deep amber/brown in color with a small, tan head that diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer, as well as around the edges. Clear. Not sparkling. Good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of bitter coffee and light cream. Medium body. Lightly thin, then dry texture. Soft to average carbonation. Lightly sweet, medium bitter, coffee and cream finish is dry.

Tap at both locations. Pours a brownish amber with a medium creamy off white head that left some lacing. Aroma of fresh cold pressed coffee, nuts, caramel and hints of vanilla. REally well done coffee aroma. Flavor of the same coffee, some chocolate and nuts/caramel poking through. A little thin on the body. Reminded me much more of a coffee brown ale. Not quite on par with a porter.

From the tap poured a dark brown color with a fair amount of head. Toasted malty flavor with a lingering coffee aftertaste.
