COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Grisette is a Belgian style ale which was originally brewed in the Hainaut province to be the beer of the miners in the area, just as Saison was the beer of the farmers. It was lighter than Saison and frequently contained wheat as well as barley malt (as does the Sly Fox version). The name is derived from the French word for "gray," referring to both the drab factory frocks worn by the young women (the grisettes) who doled out pints as the men exited from the mines, and also the color of the cobblestone rock being mined.

Golden hue with a nice frothy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of acidic fruit and bananas, candi sugar, farmhouse yeast and wheaty esters. The taste has a sour snap over sweet malts with a earthy and woody background. Bone dry finish with a lively mouth feel. Not a bad beer but need more depth.

Thanks BBB63 for sharing. Poured a hazy straw yellow with a fizzy white head. Aromas of apple, pear, pepper and other spices.Tart candi sugar with the same apple or pear flavor. Medium body with some pleasant carbonation. Really just an avarage beer for me.

Tap at Barcade. Very pale white/golden colour with a creamy white head. Lovely spicy aroma. Light lemon and lime citrus notes with a soft but insistent cloviness as well. Light earthy notes as well, but mostly just light yeastiness, aromatic spices that are balanced in such a way that I can’t tell exactly what’s in here. Light wheatiness with a bit of spicy peppery character. Low maltiness keep it very light and refreshing. Nice saison.

Thanks to egajdzis for filling this growler from his home kegerator... Appears a hazy, pale gold with small amounts of CO@ bubbles slowly rising to the top. A small, foamy, bright white head fades into a mild cap and collar. Spotty lacing is left behind. Smell is of light funk, sugary candy, fruity, malty, dusty, earthy, with cream, a "juicy fruit" gum aroma, and light aromas of water-logged lumber. Taste is of the mentioned aromas with a funky, sugary, rubber like flavor that’s a bit odd but seems to fit the style in the farmhouse mix. Mouthfeel is light bodied, sweet, with a dry bitterness that makes the brew very light, short lived, and pretty easy to drink. There is a fizzy, sweetness runing along the tongue till she runs dry.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2013 Poured a hazy golden color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of fresh grapefruit, vanilla, lemongrass, yeast, wheat, clove, and orange peel. Taste of honey, toasted dough, citrus fruits, juicy, light banana, tart wheatiness, white pepper, and a dry, yeasty finish.

On tap at Phoenixville. Pours a cloudy milky yellow with an average bubbly white lacing head. Aroma of spices, tart, some citrus, musty and yeast. Flavor of tart wheat, lemon, banana, Belgian yeast, various spices, pepper, rather light and nicely done.

Draft at P-ville. Pours hazy gold with minimal white head. I got spices in the aroma, plus yeast, lemongrassy malt, and some honey. Tastes sort of like a spiced up, hopped up cross between a wheat beer and an APA. It does finish on the tart side, with some floral, spicy saisony notes at the end. Unique and quaffable.

Semi-cloudy & deep yellow color, minimal bright white head, good lacing around the glass, nose full of yeast, honey, light barley & a hint of grass, full-bodied, the small glass certainly goes quick though, very drinkable, flavors started off very sweet but finished on the dry & tart side, lots of carbonation in the body, flavor notes included honey, barley, alcohol & yeast, very crisp & enjoyable, the finish as mention was on the bitter side with hints of more honey & alcohol, very nice beer

Draught at Phoenixville: Aroma of yeast, milk, and cheese. Pungent. A little malt nose. Strong scent. Poured a cloudy dark yellow (flaxen). Big white head mainly diminished. Very good lacing. Flavors of banana, corriander, and lemon. Flavor is different. Moderatly sweet to start then bitter. Tangy, crisp, dry, bitter finish. Light to medium body. Lively carbonation. Overall, it was a different style than I have had, but was still very drinkable. As it was on the lighter side, I can see why miners would enjoy it at the end of the day.

On tap at the Phoenixville location. Poured a medium and somewhat cloudy golden color with a small sized white head. Aromas of spices, wheat, light citrus and yeast. Tastes of spices, white peppers, wheat, lemons, and light yeast. Had a bitter / almost tart finish.
