COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Grisette is a Belgian style ale which was originally brewed in the Hainaut province to be the beer of the miners in the area, just as Saison was the beer of the farmers. It was lighter than Saison and frequently contained wheat as well as barley malt (as does the Sly Fox version). The name is derived from the French word for "gray," referring to both the drab factory frocks worn by the young women (the grisettes) who doled out pints as the men exited from the mines, and also the color of the cobblestone rock being mined.

Can, bought @ Mikkeller and Friends Bottleshop, Cph. Pours murky yellow with a large, frothy, light bubbly white head. Aroma has lovely lemon, wheat, pepper. Medium carbonation, fine dry and light creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has fine wheat, light grainy, fresh lemon zest, peppery dry bitterness.

Can shared with jeevan, from Brewdog Online I think. Hazy yellow pour, decent white head. Aromas are more wit-like than saison - citrus, coriander, clove. Nice mouthfeel though, gets more saisony there, peppery notes and a clean finish. Good.

Bright clear pale gold beer, big fluffy white head. Palate is light and a little dry. Fine carbonation. Mild floral yeast and very light malt. Whisper of citrus. Finishes dry and a little crisp. Itís fine but I just donít get this sub style of Saisons. Intrinsically dull.

Murky, chewing gum yellow with white dunt of a head. Bright farmhouse nose. Big peppery mouthfeel and a nice chalky undercut but not much going on for the finish.

Bottle, Cheers Stu666, November Tasting.
