Grisette is a Belgian style ale which was originally brewed in the Hainaut province to be the beer of the miners in the area, just as Saison was the beer of the farmers. It was lighter than Saison and frequently contained wheat as well as barley malt (as does the Sly Fox version). The name is derived from the French word for "gray," referring to both the drab factory frocks worn by the young women (the grisettes) who doled out pints as the men exited from the mines, and also the color of the cobblestone rock being mined.

Can shared with jeevan, from Brewdog Online I think. Hazy yellow pour, decent white head. Aromas are more wit-like than saison - citrus, coriander, clove. Nice mouthfeel though, gets more saisony there, peppery notes and a clean finish. Good.

Little cloudy straw yellow beer, huge creamy dense white head, very stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: fake bretta, lots of citrus, spicy, coriander, bit dusty. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sourish start, grassy hops, lemony, pretty bitter, grapefruit. Aftertaste: bit sour, spicy, quite some coriander, lemony, bitter hops.

Nice enough, zesty and citrus-y but just not enough about it, a touch meh, but better than than, i just wanted more.

Bright clear pale gold beer, big fluffy white head. Palate is light and a little dry. Fine carbonation. Mild floral yeast and very light malt. Whisper of citrus. Finishes dry and a little crisp. It’s fine but I just don’t get this sub style of Saisons. Intrinsically dull.

Murky, chewing gum yellow with white dunt of a head. Bright farmhouse nose. Big peppery mouthfeel and a nice chalky undercut but not much going on for the finish.

Bottle, Cheers Stu666, November Tasting.

Can. Hazy yellow with a large frothy white head. Good retention and lace. Saison yeast; white pepper, fruit esters. Citrus, flowers, hay, light grain and doughy. Light body, light sweetness, fizzy carbonation, watery texture. Ok session beer all though the fizzy carbonation is a bit annoying.
