Grisette is a Belgian style ale which was originally brewed in the Hainaut province to be the beer of the miners in the area, just as Saison was the beer of the farmers. It was lighter than Saison and frequently contained wheat as well as barley malt (as does the Sly Fox version). The name is derived from the French word for "gray," referring to both the drab factory frocks worn by the young women (the grisettes) who doled out pints as the men exited from the mines, and also the color of the cobblestone rock being mined.

Draft at Blind Tiger a few months back. Pours straw yellow in color with a fluffy white head. Lighter in flavor than more standard saisons I have had. The addition of wheat to the barley gives the beer more of a cereal grains character. There is a light spice adding to the fresh lively mouthfeel making this beer very refreshing.

Pours cloudy golden with a big foamy head. Aroma is sweet, ripe bananas, orange peel and Belgian yeast. Taste is a little hint of coriander, some Belgian yeast notes and a bit of spice. Fizzy but not too much. Better than I’d expected.

Can from BottleDog, Edinburgh. Milky golden body with a thin white head. Lively carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of lemon, wheat and orange pith. Flavour of chalky malts, zingy orange and coriander seed. Dry finish. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft fizz. Grossly overpriced at £7 - how much of that is BrewDog mark-up?

12 ounce can. Pours a pale gold with a massive frothy white head. Subtle yeasty wheat malt nose has a lemony accent. Flavor mirrors the aroma. Tangy wheat and lemon with a slightly sour funkiness. Some dryness in the finish, with a hint of white pepper. Refreshing and flavorful.

Draft kop f&h. Big foamy head leaving fish rings in my glass on a clear yellow pour. Much more hops bitterness than I would expect from the wheat, malt, and farmhouse yeasts. Love a great saison , this was Not really my style.

Can. Foamy pure white head, hazy lemon golden yellow. Banana, light spice, hay, citrus, and slightly sour grass in the aroma. Again, banana, slight vanilla, spicy yeastiness, sour hay, and citrus flavor a in the finish. Lighter chalky soft body. Kinda comes across like a Hefeweizen, but still decent tasting if I ignore the style listed.

Crystal clear light yellow in color with a big but quickly dissipating head. Looks like a flat cider. Smells of wheat, yeast, rotting lemons (not as bad as it sounds). A little bit sour on the tongue. Not bad but not really my style.

Pours a hazy pale yellow with thin white head which doesn’t last. Aroma of wheat, bready yeast, lemon, straw and herbal. Taste reminds me a lot of a decent wheat beer, noticably sweet before becoming quite tart and bitter/sour. Pretty nice stuff although not a style I usually go for.
