3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 cpetrone84 (623) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 13, 2011
Transparent golden yellow with a thick creamy white head. The nose is lightly toasted grain with a touch of dough malt balanced by a fairly assertive citric hop in the back with a grassy, earthy grain lingering in the back. The flavor has a more assertive grain flavor, light notes of dough with a strong citric bitterness. There is a lightly floral and grassy hop note accompanied by some tangy rye like grain in the finish. Really light, fluffy, and creamy feel with a medium syrupy body and crisp assertive carbonation. The beer is balanced and smooth, light and crisp. Nice stuff, stronger on the grain side than I love but still very enjoyable.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Glouglouburp (4543) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 3, 2011
In short: A generic clean blonde lager without much character.
How: Tap at brewpub, Phoenixville location. One of the RBSG 2011 bus-trip pit-stop
The look: Clear golden body topped by a small white head
In long: Timid basic lager nose with some cereals. Taste has fresh bready pale malts and a tiny bit of herbal hops. Medium carbonation with a body that is a bit on the thin side. I can’t say there was anything wrong with the beer but there sure isn’t much happening here. Overall I thought that this was a rather bland lager that wasn’t really refreshing and didn’t provided me with that fresh ingredients sensation that I love from a lager of this kind. A major letdown after their fantastic Standard Pils that I had minutes before. Clean, crisp and flawless but lacking a little je-ne-sais-quoi to make it more than just another generic clean lager. Not a very good beer but oh well, what doesn’t kill you can only make you stronger. That’s probably why I always want to start a fight after 8 pints.
