PhillyHomeBrew (170), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 17, 2008 the beer is dark brown, almost black with no head. The aromas are of prunes, raisins, and a little caramel. There is a lot of raisin flavor with subtle carbonation. BeerandBlues2 (2411), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA May 30, 2008 Bottle received via trade with Beastiefan2k; thanks Eugene! Pours dark brown with a small, fizzy, light brown head, diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (caramel, nutty, bread), light hops (grass), heavy yeast (dough, leather) with notes of dates and cola. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness. swoopjones (1048), Buffalo, New York, USA May 12, 2008 On tap @ MrGoodbar, Buffalo NY. Pours a coca cola brown. Very light body & mouthfeel. Sweeter tasty caramel, sugary. Malts dominate here along with dried fruit & alcohol is well hidden. Taste seemed to be all over the place. Components for a decent quad seem to be but the batting order may have to be juggeled PWalk (332), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 8, 2008 Alot sweeter than what I had expected to be honest. It was tasty with some caramel coming through but overall it was nothing truly noteworthy other that what I wrote down already. Good alchohol burn in the finish but not long lasting. southamptonsam (44), New York, USA May 7, 2008 A bit too sweet and not as balanced as ,say, St Bernardus. But for a Quad out of PA, this is a pretty good Quad. After reading the reviews, I was ready to bring this bottle back and exchange it. Very glad I didn’t.
