3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Slightly sweet aroma, with hints of spice. Pours clear light straw, with a giant white head. Mild flavor, hints of sweet candi sugar and a touch of spice. The alcohol is amazingly well hidden, with no heat that I could detect, this beer is easy drinking and very light on the palate. This is a decent beer, with no real flaws, Iím just not seeing anything to make it stand out.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy orange beer with a thick foamy white head that rises quickly. Fairly monotone sour nose with some spice, but little overall complexity. Flavor is better with bright sour lemon initially that develops some spiciness consisting of clove, coriander, and mild ginger with undertones of under-ripe banana. Then a little bit of bitterness closes out the profile. The effervescence is lively making this a refreshing beer that is easy to drink.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This pours hazy and a light golden color with a faint orange hue. There is steady stream of bubbles rising up through the middle. The head is delicate, white and creamy and fell to a film and a ring of loose bubbles.
The nose is deeply rich and sweet. At first you can smell a strong bit of yeast but then the fruits take over. Pear, apple skin and a tart apricot. There is plenty of earth in this nose and spices that make it woody and deep. Candi sugar and sweet soft bread. Gentle clove and orange with a sweet green grape as it warms.
Taste is very rich as the fruits and the rich sweet bread combine on the palate with a surprising and welcome light tartness from citrus. The spice brings a depth to the drink that is earthy and woody and adds clove & coriander. Honey. There was no alcohol on the nose but there is a bit of warmth and thatís terrific as this is a big beer at 10.5 %.
This beer was brimming and overflowing with succulence from fruit flavors and a sweet deep malt that stayed soft. The mouthfeel is creamy and the carbonation provides a slight tickle. It finishes dry . Hops are flowery and and it develops a little pepper in the finish too.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml bottle into chalice, no bottle dating. Pours lightly cloudy golden amber color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of pear, apple, apricot, grape, candi sugar, honey, bread, clove, light pepper, floral, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of pear, apple, apricot, grape, honey, candi sugar, bread, clove, light pepper, floral, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of light fruits, candi sugar, honey, bread, clove, light pepper, floral, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good complexity of malt and yeast ester flavors; with a good malt/yeast flavor balance and minimal cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a slick and moderately syrupy mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very solid tripel style. Good balance and complexity of malt and yeast ester flavors; and fairly smooth to sip on for the big ABV. An enjoyable offering to sip on slowly.

The taste of too much candi sugar and some straw, way too sweet for me. Fine white head though. Bottle best by date 31 3 2012...might explain the sweetness....

Bottle at the De Molen July 2nd Tuesday tasting. Poured a clear rich amber with a bubbly white head and lots of carbonation. The aroma is sweet and yeasty. The flavour medium sweet, with caramel, toffee and a zesty, bubbly palate. There is a little liquorice bitterness in the finish.
