maltdog (406), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Dec 18, 2006 22 ounce botle purchased at Royersford bp. Rusty, burnt umber in color; dully luminous like the last vestiges of twilight. An enormous foamcap, as dense as a nerf ball, leaves jizz-track lacing in its wake. The heady aromatics are stunning even at arm’s length: lush malt, briar fruit… blackberry and raspberry…currants, cocoa powder. Crisply malty flavor is fat with butter crackers, seductive cherry and fig, leather, Jack and Coke, vanilla. Cocoa powder, juniper berry, and leather finish, rich and spicy. Mid-full palate, slightly overfizzy; tingly, as if eating powdery snow. Lingering, liqueur-filled-chocolates aftertaste. Complex, seamless, and decadent. Reminds me a lot of Rochefort 8. Outstanding! MilkmanDan (1935), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Jul 22, 2004 Deep brown, a bit red. No head. Malty nose, roasty and sweet. Great flavor, huge malts, lots of caramel, raisiny sweet, a bit toasty. Good stuff. rajendra82 (630), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Jun 10, 2005 This growler arrived on my door step from BA pezoids as part of BIF 20. The beer poured out dark ruby brown with no head and left only spotty lacing. The growler was well sealed before opening, so I am assuming this is how this beer is meant to be. The malty aroma of cherry, molasses, raisins, and chocolate gave a good hint of things to come. The taste was super smooth, with dark skinned fruits, brown sugar, and citric sourness mixed with a dose of spicy noble hops. Soothing and chock full of flavor, the beer was very satisfying. Body was a touch thinner than other Doppelbocks, but the level of residual sugars made this little feel more substantial than it really was. While not an earth shaking experience, this was very pleasant indeed. surffisher (129), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Mar 26, 2008 2007 bomber bottle. Pours crystal clear cola colored with reddish highlights and a nice small head with moderate retention and little lacing. Luscious aroma of sweet lightly toasted malts, prunes, molasses and some alcohol. Sweet, fruity malt-dominated flavor with some nice hop bitterness and a touch of alcoholic warmth. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation; smooth. This is wonderful and a very impressive doppelbock; best U.S. version I’ve had. lowner (18), astoria, New York, USA May 13, 2003 Updated: Mar 30, 2004Absolutely delicious dobblebock. Closer to Celebrator than Salvator in that it is not just a sweet entity. Black in color, lots of licorice flavor, velvety smooth, and almost enough sweetness to suit my tastes. Great job Sly Fox and Cory the bartender is the man!!!!!!!
