hopdog (4552), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 14, 2007 On tap at the Phoenixville location. Poured an amber color with an off white head. Very nice aromas that consisted of citrus, pine, some caramel, and grapes (had a nice wine like characteristic to it). Tastes of citrus, pine, caramel, and lighter grapes. This is one of my favorite of the IPA series. I want more of this one! DocLock (4085), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 23, 2007 Orangy deep copper color with aroma of piney hops, citrus, and caramel malt. The flavor is very hoppy and citric, with the hops being very sticky and almost syrupy, leaving this one with a pretty dry and floral finish. JoeMcPhee (3692), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jun 14, 2007 Tap at Barcade. Bright orange beer. Very fresh juicy hop aroma. Orange, grapes and a strong woody resinousness. Lots of cohumulones in this hop. Very aromatic hop with loads of character. This is easily the hoppiest of this series. Fresh grassy/resiny flavour with a soft grapey fruitiness along with orange marmalade and grapefruit. Soft toasted malt profile. Moderate to heavy bitterness on the back with lots of strong resinousness. One of the best of the series. Eyedrinkale (3102), Beer Town, New York, USA Jun 9, 2007 Draft @ Barcade. Small head which Barcade is known for but when aggitated it’s somewhat creamy. Aroma is West Coast grapefruit and pine. Flavor starts out malty but the beauty of this hop is the lingering bitterness in the finish. Just a tad buttery though are the only points off. egajdzis (2963), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA May 29, 2007 Poured a lightly hazy, amber color with a small, off white head that left spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of grapes and citrus, so juicy! Light yeast, wood, faint toffee, and floral hops as well in the aroma. Taste is bitter, with pine, more citrus, caramel malts, and a light, tart, grapiness. Prominent grapefruit / grassy bitterness in the finish. The best i’ve had from Sly Fox, though I think if more brewers started using this hop, there’d be more of these beers around. I’m excited for this next harvest, these Nelson Sauvins are going to be a big hit in 2008!
