egajdzis (3021), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA May 29, 2007 Poured a lightly hazy, amber color with a small, off white head that left spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of grapes and citrus, so juicy! Light yeast, wood, faint toffee, and floral hops as well in the aroma. Taste is bitter, with pine, more citrus, caramel malts, and a light, tart, grapiness. Prominent grapefruit / grassy bitterness in the finish. The best i’ve had from Sly Fox, though I think if more brewers started using this hop, there’d be more of these beers around. I’m excited for this next harvest, these Nelson Sauvins are going to be a big hit in 2008! RblWthACoz (959), Brooklyn, New York, USA Feb 12, 2008 Pours a murky orange brown. Great creme head. Smooth hoppy nose and the flavor is niiice. Real great smooth and bitter edge that is an underlining theme. I almost want to say there is a grapey edge on here. Only reason I pull that one out is a very small bit of this reminds me of Cantillon St. Lamvinus at its best. Raelly though it is just nice and smooth. A real pleasure to drink. This on cask would probably be great.
I have had the Target and Centennial besides this, and this is my favorite to this point. DocLock (4170), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 23, 2007 Orangy deep copper color with aroma of piney hops, citrus, and caramel malt. The flavor is very hoppy and citric, with the hops being very sticky and almost syrupy, leaving this one with a pretty dry and floral finish. hopdog (4648), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 14, 2007 On tap at the Phoenixville location. Poured an amber color with an off white head. Very nice aromas that consisted of citrus, pine, some caramel, and grapes (had a nice wine like characteristic to it). Tastes of citrus, pine, caramel, and lighter grapes. This is one of my favorite of the IPA series. I want more of this one! PilsnerPeter (1477), Flushing, New York, USA Jun 13, 2007 Tap at Barcade: Deep amber pour with a nice lacing tan head. Huge hoppiness to this beer. Aroma is extremely fragrant with tons of mangoes, peaches, citruses and cascade. Flavor also has that fruity hop depth. Lots of mango, apricot with a huge resiny finish that lingers like grapefruit rind. There’s also just enough malt to give this stuff a roasty sweet balancing edge. I have been impressed with Sly Fox’s IPA Project so far.
